Does the current Twelve South BackPack for Mac work with The New iMac (late 2012)?
BackPack 2 is compatible with the recently released 27-inch iMac, but is not yet compatible with the 21.5-inch iMac.
Since the new 27-inch iMacs now have a tapered desk stand, the position of BackPack on your iMac will depend on the insert you choose. With the included inserts, BackPack will sit at the bottom of the cable hole (#3 insert) or below it (#4 insert) when installed on the L-shaped base. If you would like to mount your BackPack above the cable hole, contact us at support@twelvesouth.com to request the #1 BackPack insert.
For the new 21.5-inch iMac, you can use the BackPack as a forward facing shelf for holding your SuperDrive or anything else you want easy access to by requesting the #1 insert. An insert to allow you to mount BackPack to the back of your iMac is not currently available, but we will be creating an insert specifically for the 21.5-inch iMac.
