August  2007  "Ta-da Lists and Back Stabbers"
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello there, !

My mind doesn’t just wander; it sometimes leaves completely!

It's hard staying in The Positive Zone when your mind is full of all the stuff you're supposed to remember to do.

I used to get depressed just looking at my one L O N G To-Do list and sticky notes covered the computer, desk and even our dog, Sally.

And then I discovered Ta-da!

I now put whatever task or idea that comes to mind on the appropriate list I created in Ta-da, a very cool FREE Web-based software program.

I keep the Ta-da browser window open all day and add tasks as I think of them. Then I get to check them off when completed.  What fun!

You can also drag things to the top of a list as your priorities change or email lists to yourself or others.

I’m lovin’ it!

August 2007:  "Susan, Your presentation to our Leadership Group was fantastic! Feed-back from the 75 participants included:  'Super goal-setting ideas!'  'Enjoyed every minute of the three hours-- never a dull moment!' 'Loved the interactive, hands-on exercises.'    'I  liked Susan's humor and her real-world examples.'   Usable information and fresh, valuable insights.'  Thank you, Susan!"

Randi Austin,  Vice President, Human Resources, The Courier-Journal

Know a Back Stabber? Congratulations!

When I talk in my keynotes and seminars about how to deal with difficult people, I ask the audience to raise their hand if they’ve ever known a Back Stabber.

Boy, do I get a lot of hands!

And everyone seems relieved when I say if someone talks negatively about them behind their back, then they must be doing something RIGHT!

It’s true:  Back Stabbers have low self-esteem and believe,

“If I bring you down, it will lift me up.”

Think about it: there are only two ways to have the tallest building in town:
1. build the tallest building yourself, or 2. tear down everybody else's buildings!

The higher you climb your mountain of success,
the easier a target you become for the people down below
.

S
o what do you do if a Back Stabber has chosen you as a target?

I like Zig Ziglar's advice:

"Don't be distracted by criticism.  Remember- the only taste of success some people have is when they take a bite out of you."

The key word is "distracted."  Don't waste the valuable real estate of your mind worrying about some jealous Back Stabber

"I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet." Gandhi

Congratulate yourself on your success and follow Gandhi's peaceful example of non-confrontation. Take the high road and keep smiling.

Until next month...... make your Ta-da lists and stay in The  Zone!
