Canned Food Drive
The Upper School canned food drive was a big success! Thank you
to all students who brought in non-perishable items.
Middle School Kids Scripts
Middle School students wrote short stories as part of a Writing
Rally this past fall. Stories by two of these students have been selected to be performed live on stage by the Magical Theatre Company. Students will
find out which stories were selected for this honor during a performance next Wed., March 12 at 1 pm in the Garfield Theatre.
Market Day
The next order deadline for Market Day is Friday, March 28 at noon. Orders
can be placed online at www.marketday.com. Pick up will be Wed., April 2 at
the Lower School.
8th Grade Field Trip
8th graders will be taking a field trip to the Cleveland Museum of Art on
Tuesday, April 1, to visit the Arms and Armor exhibit. Students will need to bring money for lunch. Details will be sent home soon.
Bridge Building
High School physical science students built and tested bridges
for their winter project. Winners in the categories of appearance, efficiency and weight enjoyed a pizza party on March 7. Great job to
all!
ROAR Radio
The Lower School's very first ROARcast on
our new
ROAR
Radio show will launch on March 11! There will be several episodes each month on our
web page, and you can subscribe to our show so you never miss an episode (look for the RSS feed from the home page, or download from iTunes).
For the first ROARcast, Mrs. Kwiatkowski's
students will be sharing their limericks. We hope
you'll listen, and let us know

Lower School Musical: All Lower School
students will participate in the annual Musical next week. Students have been split up by homeroom, and will perform only one of the two days. The
following classes perform on Wednesday, March 12: Ms. Zunt, Mrs. Kwiatkowski, Mrs. Lewis, Ms. Richardson, Mrs. Boyd and Mrs. Lyle. All other classes
perform on Thursday, March 13. Performance time is 10 am and 7 pm both days. Students need to arrive by 6:45 pm for the 7 pm show. Also, please note

Lands' End clothing will be available for sale both evenings. Items will be offered at approximately half the retail price. We hope to see you
there!
Lower School Book Fair and Arts & Writing Fair:
Lower School Book Fair takes place the week of March 10-14. You may
preview items for sale and read more details by clicking here.
The store will be open during school hours, and also after the Lower School Musical
on March 12 and 13. Parents will also have the opportunity during this
time to view student work during the Arts and Writing Fair.
Astronomy Trip: Students and families of
all grade levels interested in astronomy are encouraged to join Mrs. Callahan for a lecture on Orion at the Walter R. Schuele Planatarium on Saturday, March 15
at 7 pm. If you are

Benefit Auction
Invitation Help Needed: The Benefit committee will be stuffing Auction invitations on March 11, 12 and 13 (Tuesday -
Thursday)
at
the Lower School during the school day. Lunch

440-832-7828. Many hands are needed! Come lend a hand and enjoy time with other Lawrence parents.
Auction Items: Solicitation packets for
auction item donations were sent home to families last week. Donations may be dropped off at either the Lower or Upper School. Please indicate
"auction" on any items you drop off. We appreciate your support of this annual parent-driven fundraiser, and hope you will also make plans to join us
for the gala on Saturday, May 3!
Attn. Basketball Players: Basketball
uniforms and Varsity Gold Cards need to be turned in to Mr. Messer
no later than next Friday, March 14. Invoices will be sent home to
cover the cost of any items missing after March 14. Thank you for your
cooperation!
Dress Down Day: Friday, March 14 is a Student Council dress down day for both
campuses. Students may pay 25 cents per item out of dress code, or $1 for an entire outfit.
Career Fair: The Cuyahoga Valley Career
Center is holding a Student Job Fair on Thursday, March 13 from 4-7 pm for area students ages 15 and over (including those who attend Lawrence
School). More than 60 employers of full-time, part-time and seasonal employees will be on hand. This is a great opportunity to find that perfect
summer job or research interesting careers.
Nordonia Community Expo:
Upper
School families are invited to learn more about the Nordonia area by
attending a Community Expo at Nordonia High School on Saturday, March

Free Parent Tech Classes: The next free technology course is "Merging
Excel with Word" on Thursday, April 3, from 4-5:30 pm in Room 303 of
the Lower School. The course will demonstrate how to create labels and
form letters from lists created in Excel with documents created in
Word. A huge time-saver to help you work smart, not hard! Parents, staff and friends of the school are invited to attend. For

Lifesavers: The Lifesavers session originally scheduled for Feb. 27 has been
rescheduled for Wed., April 23, from 7-8:30 pm in the Garfield Theatre at the Upper School. Special guest Bob Schuppel will present a special program on the topic "Helping
Parents Develop and Enforce Age and Developmentally Appropriate Rules,
Expectations and Consequences - both Positive and Negative." To RSVP, contact Jason Culp via

Summer School: Lawrence is currently enrolling students for Summer School programs, from June 16 -
July 11. The Lower School offers a morning academic program with remediation in reading, written expression, language arts and math. Its afternoon
program will focus on creativity and fun with technology, art and physical education. The Upper School offers courses such as math,
science, assistive technology, organization, music, drama, cooking, physical education, history, creative writing, keyboarding, forensics and more.
High school students may take courses for credit. Students do not need to be enrolled at Lawrence during the school year to register, so

OGT Testing: From March 10-14, 10th
graders will be taking the Ohio Graduation Test (juniors and seniors who have
not passed a section will also be retaking those section(s)). Students will be given appropriate testing
accommodations, based on specific learning needs addressed on a daily
basis at Lawrence School. To familiarize yourself with the
test and review information with your child, log onto the Ohio
Department of Education website www.ode.state.oh.us and go into "Testing
and Assessment." You then need to access "Ohio Graduation Test" followed by
"Practice Tests." If you have any questions, please contact Joyce Walker via

CCIS College Fair: The Cleveland Council of Independent Schools is hosting a College Fair on Monday, April 14 from
6:30-9:00 pm at Hawken School (Gates Mills Campus). High School
students are encouraged to attend. Please see Mrs. Mattes for more information.
Upper School Store: The Upper School Store, sponsored by the National Honor Society, is
open Mon., Wed. and Thurs. from 3:20 - 3:35 pm and Tues. and Thurs. from 8:05 - 8:25 am. Items
for sale include a limited number of Lawrence School sweatshirts and t-shirts, car magnets, hats, rally towels, pencils, pens,
and USB drives.
