A note from Luke . . .
Hi there folks. I am one of the 2006 intakes, and since
starting here my role as Technical Support has been a fast paced,
'anything can happen in a minute' job. My latest task has been involved in the creation of the Skillmill manual. So far, I have bundled up 70
pages, and I tell ya there are still a few more to follow. I feel sorry for those guys who wrote the manuals for TVs that were up to 200
pages thick. Writing a manual from scratch has been one of the most challenging tasks I have ever attempted.
I have had to think about so many different aspects when
creating this manual. I have to always keep in mind things like: spelling (my nemesis, and Trudi will vouch for that),
grammar, consistency, the use of technical jargon, using simple instructions to describe a complicated procedure, using the right pictures to help the
reader understand that procedure, and dealing with all the improvements that Jake constantly throws at me. He's always
thinking of better ways to do things. With all the manuals that I work with, I will always try and make them easier to understand
and less daunting so you wouldn't even consider the phrase "you don't need to read the instructions
anyway".

Urban milling in Germany . . .
Ulf Stuhmer, Peterson's Germany agent, has been doing custom milling in various towns and cities
around the country recently. He's often called in by the various councils to remove trees that are in the way of new highways and developments, and
more often than not, lucky enough to keep the timber for his carpentry business. He's cut a lot of big logs in his time, and even caught the
attention of a local TV station who subsequently did a documentary feature on him and his Peterson sawmill.

Photo of the Month & Miller Profile . .
Scot Postle sent this pic through last month and we were so impressed
that we just had to share it with everyone. He set himself the challenge of building a custom play set for his kids,
and ended up with a huge playground that up to 12 kids can play on at any one time.
The photo shows the play set, and an inset of
Scot
with his inspiration - his three kids. Measuring 30 feet long and 12 feet high, and taking a month of weekends to construct, we reckon he's done
a pretty good job.

The RC's hit the show circuit ...
We are heading into show season and the RC’s are being kept busy with a number of shows around the US. We’ve got
two coming up in August, two in September, then Chris Browne and Layla Robinson from Peterson’s New Zealand are heading over to join the tour
and take the Skillmill around to a number of woodworking shows in October, as well as the Paul Bunyan and Sunbelt Shows.
