Dear ,
Mema wo akye! Greetings to you in Twi, our language in
Ghana.
It is another beautiful rainy day in Liverpool, UK, where our family
has been renewed and I, Juliana, have been back into student life. You may remember that I am attending a Tropical
Medicine post-graduate diploma course at the University of Liverpool for three months. Classes have been intense and studies
time-consuming, but most of the lectures extremely relevant to our work in Ghana.
Our time in England has been a gift
from the Lord that came as a refreshing interval right after our first year mark in Ghana - and has allowed us to regain a new zeal and energy
for life. |
Juliana is being trained to diagnose malaria, schistosomiasis
and many other parasites very prevalent in West Africa. AIDS, sickle cell disease and organisms responsible for outbreaks in the
'meningites belt' in Africa are just some of the many targeted as part of the training program. |

The children are enjoying visits from grandparents as Andrew's parents are here
now. Juliana's mother arrived the same day as we did and got us settled in and blessed us with a great time together. It is so good to see the joy of
Lucas and Luiza playing and enjoying their grandparents.
While here, we are attending a church that has many Ghanaians and, surprise, Brazilians as members! We have been
invited to minister in three churches. One in the Liverpool area, one in Northern Ireland, and one in North Yorkshire. |
We realized that it's not just been a year since we left the US, but two years since we have
been in Brazil. Joao Carlos, Juliana's dad, has not ever met Luiza and she is 18 months old. Our family in Brazil has given Lucas, Luiza and
Andrew tickets to go visit from November 1-18 while Juliana is studying here in Liverpool. The course is finished on Dec 1. |

"Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses flavor, how do you make it
salty again? Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for fertilizer. It is thrown away. Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and
understand!" Jesus said as quoted in Luke 14:34-35.
