The University of Virginia's McIntire Department of Art will inaugurate its new Ruffin Gallery with an exhibition of works by celebrated printmakers
Karen
Kunc and Annu Vertanen. Both artists are interested in large scale, colorful, abstract
woodcut prints.
The show runs from September 22 to October 24. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9-5pm.
Ruffin Gallery is in Ruffin Hall, the new home of UVA's studio art program.

CD Release Concerts

Kid Pan
Alley hosts two concerts to celebrate the release of the CD,
I Used to Know the Names of All the Stars, created by Charlottesville and Albemarle students with the help of professional
musicians.
The concerts will feature students from several area schools as well as many local bands such as Sons of Bill, Trees on Fire, Devon Sproule, and more.
Tickets are $20 for adult and $8 for
children. All proceeds benefit the programming of Kid Pan Alley. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Paramount Theater Box Office, by phone at

On First Fridays, the Miki Liszt Dance Company sponsors a monthly showcase of independent
choreographers and small dance companies in Central Virginia. In October, Charlottesville Ballet will be presenting their debut performance as a
brand
new company.
There will be two performances, held at 6pm and 7pm, at
McGuffey Art Center in Studio 20. Admission is $8. Cash and check only. Tickets are available at the door.

Bras and Beaters
Charlottesville Women's Theatre Project

The Charlottesville Women's Theatre Project presents a staged reading of a new play, Bras and Beaters, by local playwright Sally
Story.
Directed by Melissa Lauricella, Bras and Beaters explores the age old relationship
between men and women and the ever evolving one with ourselves. There will also be a special performance by musical guest Mariana Bell.
Performances on Friday and Saturday begin at 8:00pm. The Sunday matinee starts at 2:00pm.
Admission is pay-what-you-can at the door.
