The Student
Government Association will sponsor two Road Rallies this fall. The first Road Rally is scheduled for New Orleans, LA for the MTSU vs. LA-Monroe
football game, and the second trip is scheduled to Columbia, SC for the MTSU vs. USC football game. Road Rallies are trips that allow
MTSU students to attend away football games at a discounted package price. The price includes transportation, game ticket, hotel room, and a
Road Rally t-shirt. This year’s price will be $65 for both the New Orleans and South Carolina Road Rallies.
The New Orleans

Orleans at the Lemoyne Chateau, and leave early afternoon on Saturday to travel to the football game for a 6:00 p.m. kick off. Following the
game, the group will travel back to Murfreesboro, and arrive early Sunday morning, October 22. A detailed itinerary for the New Orleans

Members of Pi Kappa Alpha and Sigma Alpha Epsilon on Bid

IFC Recruitment Wrap Up
Chassen Haynes
After a busy week for Greek Row the end of
Fraternity Recruitment came with great guys and higher membership totals. There were many quality guys this year eager to get
involved with a fraternity as well as on campus. This year 286 men signed up for recruitment, and 197 took bids. At the end of open
recruitment, we expect to have approximately 225 guys. Last fall, 173 guys took bids, and 213 were picked up during open rush.
Current members felt that this year went
much smoother than previous years. Under the direction of Steven Rohall, the details were very organized and well planned.
Our Rho Alphas were a huge asset to ensuring everything went well. The Rho Alphas this year were: Patrick Allen (Pi Kappa Phi), Steven Giles (Pi
Kappa Alpha), Matt Inyart (Alpha Gamma Rho), Michael Hicks (Sigma Nu), Paul Martinez (Sigma Nu) Mike Brush (Sigma Alpha Epsilon), Jimmy Musice (Sigma
Alpha Epsilon), Bobby Barry (Alpha Tau Omega), Kenny Quigg (Sigma Chi), Derek Millner (Sigma Phi Epsilon), Ben Griffin (Tau Kappa Epsilon), and Brian
Ellis (Beta Theta Pi).
The success of recruitment this year was not
the result of one week of well planned events but rather the outcome of an entire year of bonding between all of the greek organizations. The greek
community understands that it is now important to promote “Go Greek” throughout the year.
For the most part, Fraternities did a very ample job during Summer Recruitment to help show incoming guys what their
fraternities’ encompassed. |

Charity Home – Signature Homes, The Adcock
Group and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity
Brandy Barrett
Once again, in a joint venture between Brian Burns of
Signature Homes, B.S. ’92 , Scott Adcock of The Adcock Group, B.S. ’92, and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, we are giving back to the
community through our annual Charity Home. This beautiful home is featured in Providence Pointe subdivision here in Murfreesboro. The proceeds
from this home will go to two different charities: The MTSU Foundation as well as Operation Helping Hand. Operation Helping Hand is a fundraiser for the families of Fort Campbell soldiers that have been deployed
overseas. The monies are donated towards emergency needs for their spouses here at home.
The MTSU Foundation supports a wide variety of
programs and activities at the University, including scholarships. Scholarships have been a priority since the Foundation's beginnings. Currently
there are approximately 450 Foundation scholarships. The Foundation has supported MTSU's faculty and staff through the establishment of awards and
endowed chairs.
Through the combined efforts of Signature Homes, The
Adcock Group and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, we will once again give back to our community as we have in the past. We feel it is important to give back
to our alma mater as well as the families of the soldiers who give their lives to keep us safe here at home.
Brian Burns and Scott Adcock are both alumnus of the
Beta Theta Pi fraternity and feel strongly about this charity home. Last year alone, Signature Homes and The Adcock Group donated $35,000 combined to
these two organizations. We hope to exceed that amount this year. |

Greek of the Week:
Matt Holt
Ashley DeSabetino
This week’s Greek of Week, Matt Holt,
demonstrates leadership throughout the Greek Community. He currently serves as President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Matt has implemented a
weekly Bible Study for fraternity members, created a member education rubric, and he was recognized in the National publication “The
Record” for Fall 2005 recruitment and branding achievements.
Not only has Matt made numerous contributions to his
Fraternity he has also assisted the growth of the Blue Raider Greek Community. Matt used his position as Vice President of the Greek Life
Programming Board (GLPB) to further Greek unity and standards. “The Greek Life Programming Board allows Greek students to get involved on
campus and make connections with community” stated Holt on the GLPB. He helped execute Cheer for Humanity which raised seventeen
thousand dollars for Habitat for Humanity and he successfully implemented an America Red Cross Blood drive that achieved the highest number of donors
seen at MTSU.
Through his involvement with the blood drive Matt
was introduced to Linda Decker, Head of Scheduling for the American Red Cross. Linda recognized Matt’s commitment to community service
and encourage him to apply for Board of Directors for the Red Cross of Tennessee. The Red Cross only chooses one student representative from the
three largest schools. Matt was much obliged and applied for the position. He was chosen to serve on the Board of Directors and he will
be inducted October 12, 2006. |
