Income Tax
Check-Off

The Income Tax
Check-Off for Breast and Cervical Cancer Research continues to be the favorite refund donation option for state taxpayers. Tens of
thousands of Pennsylvanians donate their state tax refunds to breast and cervical cancer research, with an average donation of $8 per
donor.
The overwhelming response to this initiative demonstrates just how important finding a cure for breast and cervical cancer is to the
people of Pennsylvania. It is also a testament to the exceptional researchers that we have right here in our state.
Remember to look for
the PBCC's Income Tax Check-Off for Breast Cancer Research on line 35 of your state income tax form. You can also make a donation to breast and
cervical cancer research by marking the same line and including a check with your tax form. For more information, talk with your tax
advisor.

HERE FOR
YOU!

Every day, the PBCC advocates for women one-on-one, sharing information about resources providing mammograms for
uninsured women, free breast cancer treatment through Pennsylvania's Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program (BCCPT), organizations offering help with co-pays,
appealing insurance denials...the list is as diverse as the women and men who call us. Yes, recently we were able to connect an uninsured male
caller with a screening mammogram that had been recommended by his doctor.
Virginia Rockwell of Greensburg says..."With your input and the
assistance of the HealthyWoman program, I was able to receive all necessary yearly care, including a diagnostic mammogram. I was able to
get an appointment within a week and they were very thorough with my care. I am a 7-year breast cancer survivor and having the peace of mind
that all is 'still well' is truly priceless to me. I'm so thankful for the HealthyWoman project and funding. I never thought I would need
to utilize this program, but when you are self-employed with a history of cancer, affordable health insurance is very difficult to obtain. Thank
you for the part you play in getting the information out and being such a valuable resource to all women."
If you or someone you know is having
difficulty accessing medical services or has questions about insurance coverage related to breast cancer, we are here to help. Call our Patient
Advocate, Dolores Magro, toll-free at 800-377-8828 x

| MONEY
MATTERS

Charitable giving in the US reached $295
billion in 2006 - the last year for which figures are currently available - an all time record!
Of that total, $223 billion was donated by
individuals to charitable causes. Giving by individuals is always the largest single source of donations, consistently making up approximately
75% of the total donated in the US each year.
It is reported that about 65 percent of households with incomes lower than $100,000 give to
charity. That is higher than the percentage who vote or read a Sunday newspaper. So the next time you think your support doesn't make a
difference, remember that even the smallest of gifts all add up.
If you would like to make a gift to the PBCC
please call me at (717) 721-2580 x 106 or toll-free at (800) 377-8828 x 106. You can also email me at brian@pabreastcancer.org or visit our website.
