Historic Manskers Station
Spend Time with the History of Early Tennessee

Dear ,

Connecting to Collections

Historic Mansker's Station was recently awarded the Connecting to Collections Bookshelf from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). This is a core set of conservation books, DVDs, and online resources that will help us better care for the historic property and artifacts. Titles of the collection include Caring for Your Family Treasures by Jane and Richard Long, and The Nature of Conservation: A Race Against Time, by Philip Ward. The collection will be kept in the Mansker's Station library. Visitors can come browse the collection by appointment.

Colonial Camp

Enrollment has begun for one of this year's new programs, Colonial Camp! Historic Mansker's Station is an ideal setting for a unique adventure in history. The camp dates are June 16 - 20, from 9:00 to 12:00 each day. Offered for ages 8 - 12, this camp is limited to twenty, so reserve your spot early!

Campers will see history come alive with fun and exciting activities that emphasize learning and creativity. For more information, including a registration form, visit the Educational Programs area of our website.

Did You Know?

Did you know that Kasper Mansker is considered the first innkeeper of the Cumberland Settlement?  Dr. Thomas Walker, who is credited with naming the Cumberland Gap, paid for his lodging at Mansker's Fort with horse saddles among other things.
