Support Group Spotlight: Hawley Y-ME Breast Cancer Support Group

Y-ME Illinois is proud to announce the newest addition to our network of Open Door Support Groups throughout the state of Illinois - The Hawley Y-ME Breast Cancer Support Group in Taylorville. When Jeanette Sheley was diagnosed with breast cancer, she found that if she wanted to go to a support group, she would need to travel over 40 minutes into Springfield, IL to attend. Along with a dear friend who was also going through breast cancer, Jeanette planned to start a group.  However, before the two women were able to see their plan to fruitition, Jeanette's friend lost her battle with breast cancer. In her memory and in the hopes of supporting hundreds of women like herself and her friend, Jeanette followed through and launched the Hawley Y-ME Breast Cancer Group. It's inaugral meeting will be March 15th and will meet every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm.

To find out more about the new Taylorville support group or about other Y-ME Open Door Groups, call our office at 312.364.9071.

2006 Fashion Show Kickoff Takes a Different Approach

Wondering where the 2006 Fashion Show Kick-Off announcement is? We are doing something a little different this year.

In the past the Fashion Show Kick-Off served as our call for volunteers and as a result connected us with many strong and dedicated individuals, for which we are extremely grateful. This year we are looking to expand our partnerships and build the same strong connections with sponsors. Because of this, we have decided to change our program this year and dedicate the time we would have used for the Kick-Off to recognize our current and strong partnerships with sponsors as well as introduce potential sponsors to the wonderful experience that is Y-ME Illinois.

We still plan to have a call for volunteers for the Fashion Show, as our volunteers are so important and allow for the event to be such a phenomenal success! Our volunteer kick-off event will happen later in the year so watch the e-News for more information!
