A new way to listen to our lousy show!
As of today, each week's edition of Car Talk is now
available online, for free, via MP3 streaming.
So... what's the new part? The "MP3," that's what. For years, this week's Car Talk has been available for free on our web site, thanks to our pals at
Real Networks. Many of you, though, wanted more flexibility -- and you told us you didn't want yet another piece of software using up acreage on your
hard drive.
We heard you. And we hope you like the change. This week and every week, you can listen to Car Talk anytime, right from this page, via our easy-to-use MP3 player.
Tell us what you think!
Car Talk online is made available thanks to our generous underwriters. If your company would like to join others in supporting our show and reaching
the NPR audience online, just drop us a quick email.
In other news, we're here to take your car.
Okay, that's not new. We've been running the Car
Talk
Vehicle Donation Program for several years now. And during that time, we've taken many thousands of donated cars, and turned them into
millions
of dollars for NPR stations from Point Barrow, Alaska to Key West, Florida.
What is new, however, is that the end of the year is around the
corner, and
that makes the next month or two a great time to consider donating your vehicle. Any car donated between now and December 31st will
qualify
you for a
tax break on your taxes next April.
So, just what kind of person would donate his or her car to the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program?
Well, let us
introduce college professor and Car Talk aficionado, Anna.
Got a friend
who's looking to unload his or her car? Pass this note along.
Those are two of dozens of questions currently being discussed in our Car Talk
Community. You can check out a few others, right on the right-hand side of this email. Got a car question of your own? Get advice from other
Car Talk fans, and lend your expertise to others in our Car Talk Community. It's open 24/7.
If you'll excuse us now, we're going to
exercise our constitutional rights as citizens*... by listening to a little free MP3 speech, that is. No matter how lousy it
is.
Yours in free audio for all,

P.P.S. Here's this week's Lame Joke of the Week, courtesy of Steve in Seattle:
An investment banker walks into a restaurant.
"How are things going?" asked the owner.
"Great," the banker replied, "I haven't lost a thing all week!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, because last week I lost everything."
Hey, we said it was going to be lame. Got a lame joke for us? Great! Send it
along. |
