Series presents Isabel Bayrakdarian, the Armenian/Canadian singer
heard on
the Grammy award-winning soundtrack of the blockbuster film The
Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers as well as in leading roles in great opera houses around the world.
Bayrakdarian will be
accompanied by pianist
Serouj
Kradjian as she performs works by Schubert,
Bellini, Ravel, Obradors, Viardot,
and Gomidas.

CYFS Art Show Benefit
Children, Youth, & Family Services,
Inc.
Saturday, October 25, 5-10pm
Twenty local visual artists and local band 6 Day Bender are teaming up to
host a one-night art show at the Montessori Community School to benefit Children,
Youth & Family Services, Inc.
The exhibition will be on display for one night only and will include works for purchase by Lee
Alter, Bill Finn, Vee Oswalds, John
Trilby, and many others. Part of the proceeds will be donated to help CYFS
move into a larger facility, supporting their efforts to provide children with safe places to
live and
opportunities for successful
futures.
Local rock band 6 Day
Bender will perform from 7-10pm during the benefit. Come out to enjoy local artwork and music while contributing to an important community
organization.

Shakespeare Center presents Twelfth Night, one of Shakespeare's most memorable comedies. Writing at the height of his powers, Shakespeare offers
a feast of
language and songs in Twelfth Night as he breaks rules and bends gender to show love in all its guises and disguises.
King Lear, Measure for Measure, and Richard II are also playing at Blackfriars

Carla Perlo - Modern Dance Master Class

Piedmont Virginia Community College presents
a
Master
Class by acclaimed modern dancer Carla Perlo. This upbeat class will be open to both PVCC
dancers and the wider community.
Perlo is the executive and artistic director of Dance
Place, a theater and school in Washington,
D.C. Her classes are rhythmically based and are influenced by a wide range of dance and movement techniques including Cunningham, Horton, African,
Social
Dance, and Yoga.
The Master Class is open to all levels of dancers. Admission is $10 per participant. Tickets can be purchased at the PVCC Box Office or by calling

The 2008 Virginia Film Festival will explore the theme
"Aliens!" as 80 films are screened throughout the weekend.
"Aliens!" broadly
investigates the alien experience, from immigrants to outsiders to extra-terrestrials.
The Festival will bring to Charlottesville international guests
including
Abderrahmane Sissako, Gregory Nava, Peter
Riegert, Sissy Spacek, and more.
