CORNDOG CHECKOFF

There are thousands of things to love about the Iowa State Fair. This year Iowans can express their love for the Fair on their tax returns.   Look for the State Fairgrounds Renovation Check Off on line 58b of Iowa Tax Form 1040 or on line 14 of Iowa Tax Form 1040A and check off $1 (or more) to help preserve the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds. Your gift is either deducted from your refund or added to the amount due. Contributions to the Corndog Checkoff are fully tax-deductible. 

PREMIUM BOOKS ONLINE IN MAY

The Iowa State Fair, like many fairs across the country, offers its premium books online. Beginning this year, premium books and entry forms will only be available through the Fair’s website. This change will save over 1 million sheets of paper per year. Premium book information will be posted in May and entries will continue to be accepted by mail or online at www.iowastatefair.org/entry. Please contact the Competitive Events Department with any questions and thank you for your ongoing support of the Iowa State Fair.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Construction crews are working hard on capital improvements for the 2008 Fair.  Here’s an update on what’s going on so far:

• The footings and foundation are nearing completion for the new open-air arena and the footings are going in for the new stalling barn, both located in the southeast corner of the Fairgrounds. Click here for more information about this project.
• The new parking lot southeast of the Varied Industries Building is ready to be paved as soon as the ground thaws.
• The first phase of renovations to the Elwell Family Food Center is slated to begin in late February or early March.

While on the Fairgrounds, please watch for detours around construction areas.
