A note from Emma . . .
Hi, I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Emma Aldridge. I've been working in the Marketing office at Petersons for five months. Previously I was
Trudi's Assistant and now that she has left I have taken on some of her tasks, such as the 'Cutting Comments' newsletter, Peterson Points, and
looking after the website.
I will explain a little more about my job and the ways I can help you further. Firstly, 'Cutting Comments' will continue to be sent once a month with
interesting stories, facts and pictures. Your suggestions are welcome, so if you have any ideas on how we can make 'Cutting Comments' better for you
let me know.
Peterson Points is a system where you are awarded points for speaking to potential customers over the phone, and/or giving demonstrations to give
us
new sales leads. Peterson Points is a really great scheme because it means we can keep our customers involved with Petersons, and potential customers
get good honest feedback.
Updating the Peterson website is my main priority at Petersons. I change the Secondhand mills page and Show
Schedule, and add Miller Profiles and
Stories. You will be seeing my name a lot on the website, please click and send me an email if you have any questions or comments.
I have big shoes to fill, but I know we will get there. I am learning new things everyday at Petersons. It's been a really great experience so far
and it will only get better I'm sure.
Bye for now
Emma Aldridge

Article: Air Drying - Make stack covers for better drying . . .
Air drying can be an effective way to dry lumber. It requires very low
capital costs and is especially useful for construction lumber, where moisture
contents below 19% (the usual target for kiln-dried construction lumber) are
easily reached in almost all climates.
The downside of air drying is that there is little control over
the drying conditions - temperature, humidity and air flow. Drying too slowly
can lead to problems with staining and even mold and decay. Drying too rapidly.

Photo of the Month and Miller Profile
Wow, bet you don't get one of these in your backyard everyday! Bill Iverson from Alaska had a friend around his
milling
site recently. A moose came to see what is happening to that Birch tree.
Not bothered by the Peterson WPF in front of him, the moose was quite happy to let Bill take some photos. Read the Photo of the Month.
Read all about Bill's milling operation in his Miller Profile.
