Devolpement Office

On behalf of the Wesleyan Development Office, we want to sincerely apologize to the following individuals that were either omitted or in the wrong category in the Annual Report 2007-2008:

Danny and Christine Strickland generously donated to the Bobbie Lencke Endowment Fund and should have been shown as JOY Donors ($10,000 level) to the Annual Fund.

Cyndi and Jim Green should have been shown as 1963 Circle Donors ($2,500 level) to the Annual Fund.

Betsy Smith was the first and only Class of 2008 donor to the Annual Fund.

We sincerely regret these mistakes and again apologize to them.

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child

Beginning Monday, November 3rd, all three divisions (lower school, middle school, and high school) are collecting shoe boxes for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. The shoe boxes will be shipped to children all around the world who have suffered because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness or neglect. Please consider putting together a shoe box for a child over the next couple of weeks. Lower school donations can be dropped off in Mrs. Smith’s room, Warren187. Middle school donations can be dropped off in Mrs. Schofield’s room, Wesley 150, or Ms. Wanders’ room, Wesley 280. High school donations can be dropped off outside Mrs. Pack’s office, Wesley 161. The last day to bring in your donations is Friday, November 14th. For more information about preparing a shoe box, please go to the Serve-His League web page on the Wesleyan web site where you will also find a complete list of Serve-His League projects, http://www.wesleyanschool.org/life/christianlife/servehis/Pages/Projects.aspx

High School Serve-His League

Our high school Serve-His Day, Wednesday, October 29th, was a huge success! Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers! Thank you students for your participation, faculty chaperones for overseeing the trips, and Mrs. Eloise Lamons (Paige 11th) and Mallory Lamons (’06), who helped with the parent letters. None of it would have been possible without everyone's participation.

Serve-His League would also like to thank everyone who brought in food for our High school Food Drive, Oct. 14th – 28th. The Norcross Cooperative Ministry was very appreciate of the food we brought with us on Serve-His Day!

Students made another visit to Trinity House on Thursday, October 30th.  We will try and make another visit to Trinity House in November. Please listen to the afternoon announcements for more information. Trinity House is a residential rehabilitative program for homeless men in substance abuse recovery. With each visit to Trinity House, we prepare and bring a meal to share with the men as well as share our stories with one another. For more information about Trinity House, please go to their website http://tcmatlanta.org  or ask any one of the student volunteers or faculty chaperones who have gone to Trinity House this year: Aaron Williams (9th), Nyaa Davis, Emily Nail, Zack Rindik, Souvana Saya, Brooks Spraetz, Alexandra Stephens, Justin Stevens, Jenai Washington (10th), Drew Daniels, Kelly Harrison, Christyn Williams (11th), Annabella Chang (12th), Ms. Adrienne Christian (Junior Girls Grade Chair & Spanish) and Mrs. Julie Pack (HS Serve-His League Coordinator & Bible).

On Tuesday, November 18th a group of 12 Wesleyan high school students and 6 faculty chaperones will be taking over all of our Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox donations from the lower school, middle school, and high school to the Atlanta Processing Center. Afterward we will be going out to dinner for pizza compliments of Serve-His League. There is a sign-up sheet and permission slips on the Serve His League bulletin board for anyone who would like to volunteer. Please return your signed permission slip to Mrs. Pack, W161, as soon as possible. If for whatever reason you are unable to attend, please let Mrs. Pack know as soon as possible because there will be a waiting list of students who would like to go in your place.

On Saturday, December 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the high school will be hosting the 4th Annual Christmas Party at the Atlanta Union Mission Women and Children’s Shelter off Howell Mill Road in the heart of downtown Atlanta. We will be sharing the Christmas story with the children, celebrating Jesus’ birthday with a cake, doings arts and crafts, face painting, and distributing presents to the children that we will be collecting in the high school November 17th – December 3rd. There are 40 spots available to students who would like to volunteer and help host the Christmas Party. The sign-up sheet and permission slips are posted on the Serve His League bulletin board. Please see Mrs. Pack if you have any questions.

If your family would like to donate a toy or a gift to help make this Christmas special for one of children at Atlanta Union Mission Women & Children’s Shelter, all we ask is that you wrap your toy/gift and label it. Please label it “boy“, “girl”, or “boy or girl” (if unisex) and the age group that is best suited for your toy/gift. We need gifts for children ranging in age from newborns to teenagers. Toy/gift donations can be brought to Mrs. Pack’s office, W161. Remember, the last day to bring in toys/gifts is Wednesday, December 3rd. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
