The Show Must Go On

Show-stopping numbers involving members of the local Henderson, Boulder City and Las Vegas, Nevada communities are drawing otherwise un-churched families to New Song Church. It is part of Pastor David Poling-Goldenne's plan to reach out to those who don't go to church.

"Our vision is to allow people within the church as well as people in our community, the opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities in our

worship services," Pastor Dave said. "It becomes an evangelism opportunity when you have a child whose family is unchurched because the family will come to the service to see their child perform."

The stage was set early on for New Song. Not only does the church's name reflect their commitment to worship and song, but their theme verses from Psalm 91:1-3 focus on singing. Land for a future building was purchased by their denomination on Cornet Street in the Henderson, Nevada community of Anthem, where each street bears the name of a musical term.

New Song began as a small mission plant church that met in the ballroom of a local retirement community center. While they had land nearby, the church needed funding to begin construction of a worship facility. And, the clock was ticking.

Because the land was located in a planned community, there was a buy-back agreement with the developer to prevent the land from sitting idle. This meant New Song had to move forward with construction or they would have to sell the property back to the developer.

Despite obstacles that surfaced along the way, Pastor Dave and New Song remained prayerfully focused on their goal of reaching the un-churched in their community -- they knew the show must go on.

"We stepped out boldly in faith," Pastor Dave said. "There were roadblocks in our path and we just had to pray our way through, knowing that a miracle would happen."

The church sought funding for a 9,600-square-foot multi-purpose worship center, but was unable to get the financing needed -- until they found Strongtower Financial.

"I don't think we would have been able to build without Strongtower," Pastor Dave said. "It really got down to the wire and they came through in a way others couldn't."

Since opening the doors to their new facility last fall, New Song has seen a 40% increase in average attendance and they have formed a New Song Performing Arts Academy, which provides music, voice, drama and dance lessons.

"I see a bright, bold future for New Song. Our vision is to have 500 people worshiping by the end of next year," Pastor Dave said. "We hope to see God making an unbelievable difference in people's lives at this site and out in our community."
