Check Your Tire Pressure Once a Month

Each gallon of gasoline your car consumes creates 20 pounds of CO2.  The average vehicle emits 6.7 tons of CO2 each year.  Properly inflated tires save you money and reduce your carbon footprint:

  • Improve fuel efficiency by 3%

  • Make the tires safer and last longer

Consider replacing your tire valve caps with those that alert you when your tire pressure has dropped.  For every 2 psi under the recommended tire pressure, you lose 1% in gas mileage.  There are a number of different types of "tire pressure indicator caps."  Be sure that the pressure indicator valve cap you select has the psi range that your tires require and is sensitive enough to detect low psi drops.
