Dear Harmonica Player:

You may notice that this email looks slightly different from others you may have received from me over the past year.  It is:  I've signed on with a new bulk email delivery system called Emma.   I've done this because my improvise-as-you-go email delivery method, which invoved AOL and "BCC," recently got me targeted by many of your email servers--at least half of my mailing list--as spam.  So I've decided to join the modern world once again.  I'm an old dog, but I'm willing to learn new tricks.  I'd like to keep in touch with you.

My plan is to send out a brief newsletter once or twice a month--to let you know about newly uploaded lessons, but also to share news about Satan and Adam and update you on my forthcoming personal appearances.

Since some of you never received my recent email and others of you may never have received any email advisories from me, this newsletter will be somewhat longer than future newsletters.

(If you'd prefer to be removed from my mailing list, please hit the "opt out" link at the bottom of the page and you'll immediately be taken off.)

For future reference, I will always post news of my latest lesson uploads on the "news and updates" page at www.modernbluesharmonica.com

Anyway, here's what's happening.  You can find descriptions and previews at the links below:

    1)  I've just uploaded a new lesson on "Sugar Ditch," a jazzy blues head by Hank Crawford, the alto saxist who was Ray Charles's key sideman.  This is perfect for harp players who are ready to push beyond familiar Chicago & West Coast sounds:

3)  Back in March I uploaded the long-awaited "Blues Harmonica Jam Tracks," with guitar by my pal Charlie Hilbert:

4)  In May I uploaded the double-CD-length "Word on the Street:  Harlem Recordings, 1989," the first new release from Satan and Adam in twelve years:

5)  Charlie Hilbert and I will be headlining the Mundharmonika-live festival in Klingenthal, Germany (Sept. 15-20, 2008); I'll be teaching harp classes on many various topics for five straight days.  The following week I'll be giving clinics in Amsterdam (Sept. 25) and St. Aignan, France (Sept. 27th).  You can easily find the Mundharmonika-live website through google.  For contact info on the other two clinics, please visit my "personal appearances" page at MBH.

6)  Finally, Satan and Adam will be performing on Saturday, October 11th on the Houston Stackhouse stage at the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival (formerly King Biscuit) in Helena from 4-5 PM, followed by several busking sets, right in the street.  Please come and throw money at us!

That's all for now.  Stay tuned.......
