October was a month full of activities and milestones. The Punta de Mita Foundation has been active in monitoring our grantees for this year:
PEACE, Costa Verde International School and Riviera Recicla. All three are doing tremendous work with the funds they have received and the benefits
to
the environment and the communities are evident.
PAINTING AT THE NEW CLASSROOMS
The construction of the two new classrooms has finished! Thank you to
the kind efforts of the Villa Palmasola crew in Punta Mita, we were
able to
paint most of the new classrooms. These volunteers helped with the
Community Pride program in the morning doing highway clean up and then
painted in the afternoon. Also, we give a huge applause to
Construcciones Truqui and all of those who made donations to this very
much-needed project. Part of the funding came out of budget and some
donors stepped up to the plate in response to our news regarding the
need. We could not have done it without you and the parents who also
raised money.

SMART GROWTH REPORT
The Smart Growth Report is in its last stage of the study and will be published by late November. Interviews, research, a census and
opinion polls have all proved very valuable to this study that will go into depth about the issues surrounding sustainable development in the
communities of Punta de Mita.

SUPPORTING THE ENVIRONMENT
During the first week of October the Punta de Mita Foundation helped
sponsor a series of educational events at local schools in our region.
The
Elements Tour, a project put together by professional adventure
athletes and environmental educators did presentations on the importance of renewable energy and
sustainability.
All the kids loved it and their petroleum-free vehicle named "Baby" was
a hit with all the locals!
