Apple is rumored to be negotiating with the major record labels to shift the way that they receive compensation for song downloads. They want to charge you more for iPods and iPhones up front, but then give you free songs forever on iTunes. The record labels would make their money from a cut of the increased hardware cost. Free music sounds pretty good to me.
