Hey Everybody, it's the Drishti Newsletter!

Here we are again in the middle of a gorgeous Spring season in our home base of Santa Barbara, California.  Things in Santa Barbara and at Drishti have been just splendid.  Over these past few months since our last newsletter, we held one of our famously huge bi-annual sales, celebrated our six-year anniversary (whoa!!), welcomed four new employees to our staff, and said hello to countless customers in both our physical and online stores.

On a bigger-picture level, we also have another Earth Day behind us (did you think about possibly making a donation - any amount helps - to an organization working to protect the environment?), a presidential election before us (have you considered sending some money to the candidate whom you support?), and an economy that is currently in crisis mode.  And throughout it all, we have our yoga practices.  Whether your practice is daily, weekly, monthly, or on vacation for the time being :), yoga connects us all on an impressive scale...  And we at Drishti think that's a particularly excellent thought!

Whether you live in Santa Barbara or somewhere across the country (or the world!), we hope you enjoy our April Newsletter!  Read on for the all-important Yoga News section...

Upcoming Workshops & Events

(in the Santa Barbara area)

As you may know, our complete list of upcoming yoga events can always be found on the super cool events page on our website.  However, we'd like to call to your attention a few specific happenings that deserve highlighting:

1) Yoga Lit Series w/Yanoula Athanassakis at Yoga Soup - What a creative idea for a yoga workshop: combine physically-stimulating yoga asana with mentally-stimulating works of literature.  Study the selected readings, which include poetry, essays, and novels, over a week-long period, and then attend a yoga class which weaves a discussion of said readings in-between poses. This 7-week workshop is nearing its close, but there are still two more sessions left.

Monday, April 28 & Monday, May 5, $15 each session.

2) Yoga Teacher Training w/Ganga White & Tracey Rich at White Lotus Foundation - If you've ever considered taking a teacher training, either to begin or enhance a yoga teaching path or to simply deepen your own practice, Ganga and Tracey's program is an excellent choice. Their instruction is of the highest quality, their retreat center in the SB foothills is gorgeous, and the gourmet vegetarian meals that their chef, Beatrix, serves are quite famous.  They hold regular teacher trainings throughout the year, so if the June training fills up, more opportunities lie ahead.

June 14-29, $3750

3) Siddhi's Spring Yogi Cleanse at Santa Barbara Yoga Center - We hear great things about the seasonal cleanses that Siddhi Ellinghoven hosts.  The combination of a strong dietary cleanse and daily Kundalini yoga, chanting, and meditation is powerful. Get hip with the season change by participating in a cleanse!

April 30-May 10, $285 (price includes cleansing products)

Drishti News!

We have several new employees to tell you about. Amanda, an artist, is a transplant from the good old state of Iowa, and she loves living in Santa Barbara (and working at Drishti, of course). Brie is a raw food chef extraordinaire and an Ashtangi who practices at our local Ashtanga Yoga Shala here in SB. Katie is an aspiring Olympic submission wrestler and women's self-defense class teacher who regularly supplements her training with yoga and pilates. And Ashley is an incredible chef who just returned to SB from a year of culinary internships in Italy and Spain.

It's an impressive-sounding crew that we have here at Drishti, huh? :)

Click here to see a recent photo of a good portion of the Drishti crew, including all four of our aforementioned new employees, plus old-timers Niav, Jenni, and Asia
