Going to Extreme

-

Marcy has been feeling a lot of pain the last couple of weeks, especially at night. She is still getting regular infusions of gamma globulin but they don't seem to be building any strength in her. She has been sleeping 20 or more hours a day. We ask for your prayers for relief from this pain.

September 2 Dr. Reid called to say he was at Baptist Hospital with one of his patients who was having plasmapheresis done as we spoke. The patient was paralyzed when he came into the hospital and was standing up when Dr. Reid called. The patient later suffered a relapse, then a recovery, telling us just last week that he definitely thinks it helped. Marcy asks for your prayers for wisdom for us and the doctors regarding this treatment. She wants to do it but is uncertain that the strength gained will overcome the strength lost in a hospital visit.

Marcy has made it out of the house since our last email, but not as often as we would like. Click here to see all the latest daily log entries and check on her comings and goings.

If you've already seen and signed our petition in the daily updates, please "digg" it and help us automatically spread the word on the Internet. Just click the link to the left.

For most of September I have worked on our application for the TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Though we are blessed to live in a nice home, I'm hoping we are chosen so the show can help us make the house more wheelchair friendly and Marcy can see and supervise more of the house (she hasn't seen the kids' rooms or basement in 5 years,) get in and out of bed more safely (the hoyer lift is getting more and more dangerous,) get in and out of the house more safely (the ramp in the garage that I made has always been too steep,) and have a way to take a bath or a shower (she has only had sponge baths for almost 5 years.) See "Wish List" here.

I thought a petition might help. One of their past successful applicants had a petition with 50,000 names asking the show to accept their application. We are asking all of our friends to sign this online petition and hoping it helps us stand out among the "thousands of applications a week" they receive. It takes about 30 seconds to click on this box and sign. Please sign now - I plan to send our application Monday or Tuesday.

Please forward this to your friends. It's free to sign and will mean a lot to us, especially if we are chosen for a makeover.

The show requires a video - Darcy and I have had fun shooting and editing. It is almost done.

I broke it into five 5-6 minute videos and posted to YouTube here. Even if you come to our house often, you won't see what you can see here. If you watch one or two of these, I ask you to post a comment - I plan to ask the EMHE producers to go to YouTube to read the comments.

Flowers for Marcy still blesses us and raises Marcy's spirits almost daily.

We still would like to fill the yard. The variety of flowers we added has made the yard more colorful.

Please "digg" this for us, too, by clicking on the icon to the left. Your digg helps more people see the site, so it has more potential to help. And please keep telling your friends about FlowersForMarcy.com.

The "Sip a Merlot for Marcy" party 9/13 was a huge success with over 50 people there enjoying the Saucy Sisters, learning about wine, and showing Marcy love. We were able to go - click here to see the daily update about the evening.

It was even on Channel 4 News and is on YouTube at www.youtube.com/EveryDayIsPrecious.

Still for Sale:

We still have the motor home. Click here for more RV info.

And we still have Marcy's Hoveround power wheelchair. If you know someone who needs one, please tell them to check it out at EveryDayIsPrecious.com/ForSale/

Both kids are fine. Matt seems to be OK at college and is only coming home every other weekend.

Darcy has started painting again. This is the songbird she painted, requested by one of her teachers.

Darcy twisted her ankle pretty badly in a soccer game a couple of weeks ago and has to wear a boot to keep her foot from moving. She has now started walking on the ankle without the boot while she is in our house.

There are lots of dinner openings in October. Click here to see the schedule and click here if you can bring dinner for us.

If you missed any of my weekly columns in the Tennessean the last few weeks, and want to read some of them, here are links to the Tennessean site for ones written since our last email:

8/31 Cool Pool Party with a Warm Touch

9/7 An Alarming Tale

9/14 Planting Joy

9/21 Going to Extremes

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. We continue to be blessed daily.

And please send your prayer requests for me and Marcy to pray for your needs.

We thank God for your prayer and care and we still believe.

Love.
