Back to School, Blessings and Backpacks
Beloved’s fifth annual Blessing of the
Backpacks will be held this Sunday morning, August 26th. Bring your selves,
your backpacks or planners (and supplies to help a CMS student) to ask God for some divine intervention for the upcoming school or work
year. Invite your friends and neighbors!
At the end of school in May, there were 2,194
identified homeless children enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Working through A Child’s Place
each year during the Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday, Church of the Beloved collects school supplies on Backpack Sunday for these
boys and girls that are, like us, created in God’s image.
Supplies Needed include: Combination
locks for lockers, Notebook paper, Glue sticks, Protractors, Pencils and pens, Liquid soap, Erasers, Rulers, Dictionaries, Hand sanitizer, Graph
paper, Scissors, Mead composition books, Book bags (all grades), Folders, Crayons, Binders (1 inch), Pencil boxes, Facial tissues &
Markers. (Target, Office Depot and Office Max are having incredible sales on school supplies through Saturday!)
Please be generous!

Look to next week’s
eNews for specific information about the many and exciting new and continuing Christian Formation opportunities for Adults
and Children during the upcoming school year. Registration for all will be held after worship on Sunday,

Around Beloved…Carol Myers, faithful sister in Christ Jesus and Beloved Advisory Team Member since 2000,
died of lung cancer on Wednesday night. Her funeral will be held at
Holy Comforter Episcopal Church (on Park Road in the Dilworth community) on Sunday, September 9 at 2pm. Please pray for her brothers and all of us who grieve her loss and may
our Lord Jesus grant her eternal rest. May her soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in
