November, 2005
Another month has flown past and we are well and truly on the final leg of the

certainly be the case once you hear about our amazing offer we have on 10" WPF
and ASM mills. You WILL save yourself over US$2,000! Find out the details below.
If you have trees on your property we direct you towards a recent S&W article
on how to value your timber, we profile new Peterson owner Tom Doepker, and we
also show you a little of what the boys got up to at the recent Sunbelt Ag. Show
in Moultrie, GA, USA. It looks like they were enjoying themselves a little too
much at the Peterson tent!
Happy milling,

ARTICLE: HOW MUCH TIMBER IS ON YOUR LAND?
An extract from a recent Sawmill & Woodlot issue
When landowners are contacted by timber buyers offering to buy the timber from
their land, or when landowners seek to have their land appraised, including the
value of timber, they should be familiar with the methods and instruments used
by professional foresters to estimate timber volume.
A rudimentary understanding of how foresters measure trees, estimate tree volumes,
and turn these individual tree volumes into an estimate of the total amount of
timber volume on a property can be very helpful. Read on .. .
MILLER PROFILE
This month we take a glance at new owner Tom Doepker
Name: Tom Doepker
Age: 35
Location: Warren, Indiana, USA
Mill: 8" 25hp Kohler ATS
Add ons: Lap sider, MicroKerf blade
Operation: We salvage trees from fencerows that are being cleared and burnt. We mill them
up, and then use the lumber in our wood shop. This allows us to offer our customers
wood types that most people have never seen before. This also makes for great
one-of-a-kind projects.
Best feature: MicroKerf blade on BIG logs
Tip: Always use a metal detector
Motto: Always buy the best and you'll never be dissapointed
See photos of Tom's operation on our website.
PHOTO OF THE MONTH
The boys take a break at the Moultrie show
From RC Craig Blake in the USA . .. .
It was a busy month in October for Mark Strickland and myself
.and we met a lot
of you!! We had yet another year in the mud at the Paul Bunyan Show, only to turn
around and be roasted by hot sun in Georgia at the Sunbelt Ag. Show. Thanks to
everyone that stopped by and said hello!
In November's Photo of the Month, taken at Sunbelt, I (aka Captain) am taking
a break to try the bench I started with Forestry Forum celebrities Tom Cadenhead
(Tom) and Dan Gwaltney (DanG) of Florida. See the photo and read more online.
UPCOMING SHOWS & EVENTS

LAST LAUGH
"Are you kidding?"
Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources person asked a young
engineer who was fresh out of MIT, "What starting salary were you thinking about?"
The Engineer said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits
package." The interviewer said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks
vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement
fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - say, a red Corvette?"
The Engineer sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?" The interviewer
replied, "Yeah, but you started it."
