Marathon Runners Raise Funds to Build School

After months of training, Team BwB will race in the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon this Sunday, October 7. Twenty-one runners from across the country joined the first-ever BwB marathon team to raise awareness and support for the organization. So far, the team has raised more than $15,000 – enough to build one school overseas. Special thanks to Home Start Mortgage for sponsoring Team BwB! BwB Students Visit Refugee Camp In Chicago

 

In September, more than fifty BwB Chicago students gathered in Grant Park to tour the Doctors without Borders exhibit, "A Refugee Camp In The Heart Of The City." While touring the refugee camp exhibit, students were asked to imagine that they were among the 33 million people throughout the world uprooted by war. More...

Cheer on "Team BwB" at the LaSalle Bank 2007 Chicago Marathon. Team members are challenged to raise $500 each for BwB's after-school programs in Chicago and school construction in developing countries. Click here for details about how to support "Team BwB"!

Saturdays, October
13th & 20th
Volunteer with BwB members from across Chicago at the 2007 Fall Joint Service Projects. Students will work together on a habitat restoration project at Schiller Woods. Activities include building and burning brush piles, clearing evasive plant species and roasting S'mores. To volunteer or sponsor this event, contact Carrie Pena.
