Nicole Del Sesto
This month we take a week to shine the FR Author Spotlight on Nicole Del Sesto [coyotemusic], an avid reader, TV lover and FR member since August of this year. Enjoy learning more about Nicole, her debut novel All Encompassing Trip and her various pursuits in the Author Connections forum starting December 10. Then cap off the spotlight week by joining Nicole and your fellow members in a live moderated discussion in the FR Chat room on Sunday, December 16 at 8:00pm Central.

The brief introduction below will give you a good feel for Nicole's interesting personality. Want to invite an author to participate? Send a Private Message to the FR Author Spotlight Committee today!

Nicole Del Sesto lives in Northern California with her teen-aged son and finds writing an author bio a daunting task. (Though in comparison to living with a teenager, writing an author bio should be a cake walk. Do you ever wonder who decided cake walks were the ultimate in easy?) Her life in the corporate world is spent managing travel, and she can frequently be found in seat 20B on an American Airlines flight bound for Dallas/Ft. Worth. She's bummed that the airline employees at her home airport don't recognize her yet.

All Encompassing Trip is her first novel, and she's pretty sure she's writing a second one but don't try to pin her down on that. Other random and insignificant facts can be learned about Nicole on her website (www.nicoledelsesto.com) and MySpace page (www.myspace.com/nicoledelsesto).

Member Spotlight
Our 16th member to enjoy the spotlight is Jen [notenoughtimetoread
]. Jen has been an FR member for well over a year and recently has been very active in helping coordinate activities related to the new and increasingly popular FR Author Spotlight feature. Check out Jen's listed books to find your next great read. Thanks for sharing Jen!

Why do you read?
I read to be entertained and typically prefer something light and funny.

When and where do you most enjoy reading?
I'd like to be able to read anytime and anywhere, but realistically, usually in bed at night. I try to take a book with me if I'm going to be sitting and waiting, but my love of talking usually wins out and I end up talking to others and not opening the book.

What is your favorite recently read book?
Come Back, by Claire Fontaine and Mia Fontaine, for our January Author Spotlight. It is definitely something I will be recommending to others.

What book is at the top of your To Be Read list?

What is one of your listed books that's a sleeper?
I'm not sure that it's a sleeper, but very few people I've asked have read it, so...Peter and the Starcatchers by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. We read it as a family over the summer and enjoyed it so much that I've been recommending it often and have picked up a few copies for Christmas gifts. It is sort of a prequel to Peter Pan ~ great fun to read about how Peter may have come to be. It's imaginative, funny, suspenseful and even has a bit of romance thrown in - something for everyone.

What is one of your favorite things to do besides reading?
I love spending time on the beach. Finding a quiet beach (to read on, but this is supposed to be besides reading...so ignore that part!) is the best.

What is one of the most exciting things you've ever done?
Making that leap into parenthood. It was a big step that I didn't take lightly, but it has been so rewarding and fun and overwhelming and frustrating at times, but I can hardly remember life before kids...well, okay maybe I can remember and maybe even remember fondly, but still - wouldn't change a thing!

What is something interesting about you that few (if any) people know?
Hmmm, interesting? I can't think of anything. How about the fact that I love skydiving? No, not really, but it would be interesting wouldn't it? If I didn't have a terrible fear of heights, maybe I'd try it.

What is one of the most insightful lessons you've learned in your life?
One thing I try to drill into my children is that we really know so little about what is going on in the lives of the people around us ~ even those closest to us. We should try to be understanding and tolerant of others. Every small act and word, kind or unkind, can have a great impact on someone else's life.

What is one aspect of FR that you're particularly fond of and why?

Why, the Author Spotlight of course! :-) It's been a pleasure working together with Richard, Tracy and Jeb to find authors that we hope the other members will enjoy meeting as much as we do. What a great opportunity for us to try books and authors that we would not otherwise try and then to get the opportunity to discuss their books with them.

Expedite Your Credit
Earning credit for shipping your books has never been easier or faster. Highlighted below are the simplest low-cost ways to quickly get your book on the way to the requesting member so you earn credit without delay.

  1. FR Label > Scroll down the My Home page to the Books to Ship list and click the Print Label link. Affix the label to your package and apply postage. If you want to use Delivery Confirmation you'll need to purchase at the retail rate in the post office.
  2. USPS Shipping Assistant > Download and install the free USPS Shipping Assistant and then copy/paste the address of the requester and print your label. Delivery Confirmation can be included for the low electronic rate of $.18 and USPS automatically sends an email with the DC number to the recipient. Postage must be purchased separately.
  3. PayPal > Create a free PayPal account and then copy/paste the address of the requester and print your label. Since PayPal links to your bank account or credit card, you purchase the postage and it is included on the label along with Delivery Confirmation at the electronic rate.
  4. Stamps.com > For a monthly fee Stamps.com can be used to create labels with postage and Delivery Confirmation at the electronic rate.
Note that packages weighing more than 13 ounces with only stamps as postage must be presented to an employee at a USPS retail counter.

Regardless of which of the above options you prefer, we strongly recommend that you use Delivery Confirmation. If USPS confirms your book was delivered and the requesting member does not mark it received within 2 days, send the DC number to Customer Service and we will mark the book received. Using Delivery Confirmation is the fastest way to earn credit so you can request your next great read.
