Most people are unaware of the amount of pollution that comes from small gas engines in lawn mowers. An EPA report concluded that one hour of lawn
mower usage produces as much air pollution as driving a car 20 miles.
Consider replacing your old gas mower with a new pollution-free push mower or a low-polluting electric lawn mower. Electric mowers are clean,
quiet and easy to start. They require no gas, oil changes or spark plugs. A cordless lawn mower takes the extension cord out of the mower equation.
Operating an electric mower costs somewhere between $3 to $5 for the entire year compared to gas costs of over $3 per gallon. Electrical
mowers do require some maintenance every so often but without the need for fuel, tune-ups, and oil filters, they are definitely more advantageous.
