Private Utility Ignores Franklin Standards Again!
The city has received written notice from the attorney representing
Milcrofton Utility District indicating the District Board of Directors
has voted to overrule the decision of the Franklin Municipal Planning
Commission (FMPC) for the new water storage tank and pump station at
Breezeway Subdivision on Clovercroft Road. Conditions imposed by the
FMPC were landscaping, painting the tank a muted green color, replacing
trees destroyed by construction, using a vinyl fence (rather than
galvanized) and including masonry columns on the fence fronting the
public street. Their Board determined these conditions "provide no
applicable benefit to the District or its customers." They also voted
to overrule obtaining a site grading permit or building permit from the
City before proceeding with construction. This is the second time this
year this Rural Water District Board of Directors has declined to meet
city standards, the other being the Long Lane storage tank.
Columbia Avenue Resurfacing Changed to Night Hours
Adjustments of castings (manholes, water boxes, gas valves, etc.) for
the Columbia Avenue resurfacing project begin this week. The actual
milling and resurfacing will begin the week of July 18th. At the City's
request, TDOT has agreed to perform the milling and resurfacing of
Columbia Avenue between Battle Avenue and Parkway Commons at night.
Work hours will be 7:00pm until 6:00am. Lane shifts and lane closures
will still be part of the project and motorists should expect delays
and use caution when traveling in this area.
