Hints of Fall
Chicago is still giving us plenty of summer, but we've had the occasional glimpse of fall with
cooler evening temperatures and crisp breezes. Fall is the time of year when I have the most energy, which is a good thing with all the excitement
going on in the studio... read on.
On the Road
I have two fabulous shows in Missouri on the horizon... come join me at the St. Louis Art Fair
in Clayton September 7-9 and at the Plaza Art
Fair in Kansas City
Sept. 21-23. Both shows open on Friday night for first pick. More info is on my website. I will have a beautiful selection of jewelry and books available
for
sale.
We All Love a Sale
If you are in the Chicago area, swing by my studio October 6 + 7 from 11-6. I'll be hosting an
open studio during the Ravenswood Art Walk (many studios in the building and along the Ravenswood corridor will be open). If you've been to one of my
open studios before, you know I usually have samples, experiments, and some older designs on sale -- that will be true again this time around. There
will also be a great selection of earrings as well as jewelry from my collection.
But what's the real excitement? There are 3 other fabulous artists (who also happen to work
with me in the studio) who will have their work on display and for sale as well. There will be paintings, mixed media sculpture, illustration, and
more handmade
jewelry. The studio will be bustling... we hope you will join us for a fun day filled with art (and we'll have good snacks,
too).
Visit www.artwalkravenswood.org for more event information.
Coming to a Museum Near You
Later this fall and throughout the holiday season there will be some new places to find Kathy Frey
jewelry. Three museum shops just picked up my collection: the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the Museum of Art and Design in New York City,
and SFMOMA in San Francisco. They all have beautiful collections in their gallery shops that I'm excited to be a part of.
More Big News
This year Mowen-Solinsky Gallery of California will be representing my work at SOFA Chicago November
1-4. I will be showing new pieces from my gold collection, several new one of a kind creations, as well as designs featuring high-end gem
stones.
If you aren't familiar with SOFA, it's an inspirational experience. You really get to see where
contemporary craft, design, and art meet and overlap. It takes place at Navy Pier; I will be there every day of the show -- stop by so I can show you the new fabulous pieces.
p.s.
The new website design is moving along... we are aiming for a late October or early November launch.
Everything really does happen in the fall!
