The other day I was reading Mark 4. Jesus shares the parable of the sower, then explains it to the disciples (which I appreciate). The
farmer goes out to sow and it says "as he was scattering the seed" (v4). I love that picture. It is not one seed at a time in a designated spot. He
is
abundant with his "sowing" and scatters seed. We know that the seed is the word. The farmer sows the word in abundance and casts it
around and it falls on different kinds of soil. It is a picture of what a Young Life or WyldLife leader is called to do. They spread the word,
trusting God where it will fall and how it will grow. They share His word at Club and through their lives as the live around teens. It is good stuff
*grin*.
Recently we began praying for and asking kids to go to summer camp with us. We are making our 'wish list or dream teams' for camp, the
kids we want to spend a week with at Oakbridge or Lost Canyon. It is a fun thing to do. But my heart is also deeply saddened by the kids whose names
are not on our lists. The kids we haven't met yet. The ones who are not known by a caring adult who wants them to hear about Jesus and begin a
relationship with Him. There are so many.
I would ask for you to pray with us for more "farmers" who desire to scatter seed. We need more adults who want to share Christ with a lost
and hurting generation.
