Ascended to
Glory
Hail the day that sees him rise,
Alleluia!
Glorious to his native skies,
Alleluia!
Christ, awhile to mortals given,
Alleluia!
Enters now the highest heaven!
Alleluia!
There the glorious triumph waits,
Alleluia!
Lift your heads, eternal gates!
Alleluia!
Wide unfold the radiant scene, Alleluia!
Take the King of glory in!
Alleluia!
See! He lifts his hands above,
Alleluia!
See! He shows the prints of love,
Alleluia!
Hark! His gracious lips bestow,
Alleluia!
Blessings on his Church below.
Alleluia!
Lord beyond our mortal sight,
Alleluia!
Raise our hearts to reach your height,
Alleluia!
There your face unclouded see,
Alleluia!
Find our heaven of heavens in thee.
Alleluia!

Around Beloved…Congratulations to Owen Heckman
and Ben Heckman who were baptized and to David Burnett, Lynn Burnett,
Craig Doyon and Marilyn Doyon who reaffirmed their baptismal vows with Bishop Curry during our Ascension Day
worship last night!
Thanks to all who made last night’s Ascension Day celebration such a delight, especially Fred Mellon and the
incredible volunteer Angel Army Team, Dick Reif who transported the immersion font from storage at the
Nichols’ home, Michele Nichols, Janie Wooten who coordinated and decorated and all
who prepared food for the wonderful “death by chocolate” reception, calligrapher Ann Hinson who prepared the
baptism certificates, Catherine Atwood who realized we needed communion bread for the extra evening worship service, Nancy
Weiler who made the baptism banners, Ann Calandro and Roey Southard who made delicious soup and salad for
the Bishop’s supper with the Advisory Team, for the Community House Cleaning Crew who worked extra to clean for a Bishop’s visit (even
the Baptist principal knew how important that was to our community!), the Beloved Staff and Advisory Team who
always give so selflessly of themselves and for the Bishop’s Executive Assistant, Margo Acomb who helped navigate the
Bishop’s journey to Community House Middle School in exchange for delicious chocolate! Bishop Curry was
quite taken by the spirituality and liveliness of this wonderful faith community!
I publish the Banns of Marriage between Anna
Olivia Napier and Daniel Paul Hood, both of Charlotte. If any of you know just cause why they may not be
joined together in Holy Matrimony, you are bidden to declare it. This is the second time of asking.
This Sunday is Compassion Sunday, an opportunity for you
(and your family) to make a commitment to “adopt” an impoverished child somewhere in the world. Out thanks to
Catherine Atwood who is coordinating this effort. On Pentecost Sunday, May 27, we will celebrate
the gift of the Holy Spirit as we baptize Lakwan Nelson. On June 10th we will celebrate the upcoming
marriage of Anna Napier and Dan Hood with a special reception, and will present the Boy Scout God and Country awards to two very special young men on
June 17th. Watch the eNews for more details!
The Men of Beloved will next meet at
7pm on Monday evening, May 21. No pressure, no business, JUST FUN! The place
