Flowers for Marcy
-
Marcy has still been feeling feverish. She received an infusion of gamma globulin Monday
that we hope will help her body build her immune system and better fight infection. She hasn't felt up to going out very much in the last month. Her
staph infection is gone but there are still a couple of other "bugs" that haven't been killed.

If you've been reading the daily updates, you may have seen that we have been planning
a new fund raiser for weeks.
We are finally able to announce Flowers for Marcy - a web site where, for a $25 donation online, anyone can plant a (virtual) flower in our
(virtual) yard on the
web.
I plan to show Marcy the web page of our virtual yard each morning and read her each
new message left with the donation.

Over four years ago we asked our friends to contribute financially to Marcy's care. Many
people did and some continue to do so monthly. We are blessed to have been able to maintain a standard of living similar to what it was prior to
Marcy's diagnosis.
But our expenses have increased and since Matt turned 18 in April, his biological father
is no longer required to pay child support or provide any financial assistance. And college classes start August 20th.
We hate to do it, but we must ask again for donations.
We are asking you to check out our new site - Flowers for Marcy - and, if you think it is
a fun way to help, please forward the site address to at least 10 of your contacts with a cover note asking them to visit and help however they can.
Within the next few hours, I'll send you an easily forwardable email with a brief overview of our situation. Just click on the "send email" link in
the upper right corner of the next email I send (not this one.)
Also, if you have a web site or myspace page, or know someone who does, we would
appreciate a link to FlowersForMarcy.com. Since this fund raiser is totally internet based, we are thinking the most effective way of telling people
about it will be via the web.
Fungal testing update: Dr. Reid's other ALS patient tested positive for
fungal infection using the GC Mass Spectrometer. This opens the door for others to be tested. Marcy's samples have been shipped and we are waiting on
results. Test results take a few weeks.

Price Reduced:
We were able to refinance our house and get some cash to enable us to lower the price
on the 1999 motor home we bought in 2002. Click here for more RV
info.
and still for sale:
Marcy's Hoveround power wheelchair. They advertise that "it's round for a reason"
(easier navigation.) But the reason it's 'round our house is 'cause it hasn't sold. If you know someone who needs one, please tell them to check
it

Matt is still working 30-40 hours a week and hanging out with friends for the rest of
the week. There is only about a week before he goes to UT Chattanooga for school - move in day is 8/17. Since our last update he went to an overnight
orientation and registration in Chattanooga. He still likes the school, but, of course, classes haven't started yet!

Darcy, too, is still enjoying what's left of the Summer. Her latest venture is
fostering kittens. Here she is with what are the last two of the summer.

 |
And I showed Darcy how to use the video editing software on her computer so she and
her friends have been making lots of movies. She has even posted some on YouTube. Lollipop Master is her favorite.

We have been blessed to have our dinner calendar nearly full for several months. But it
looks like we are still on a "summer schedule" and there are lots of openings in August. Click here to see the schedule and click here if you would like to bring dinner for us this
summer.

Please send your prayer requests so I can give them to Marcy.
We still believe and we continually thank God for your prayer and care.
