November HR Notes Monday, November 5, 2007
HR Notes is brought to you by: The HR Group, a leader and innovator in employee benefits, human resource management and
outsourcing. 615.244.8484 -- www.hrgrp.com |
| How well do you know Generation Y? What years were they born? What percentage
of the workforce do they represent?
What strategies will you use to engage the newest and
soon-to-be-largest generation in the workplace? Explore the principles of successfully employing Generation Y. For more than a decade, author and
entrepreneur Amy Lynch has researched and written about Generation Y. Today, as these 20-somethings enter the workplace, she helps organizations
attract, engage and retain young professionals. Even if you have heard Amy speak in the past, this workshop will be worthwhile, as she will be
providing some new information and a new checklist for employers to measure their readiness to employ Generation Y. She will lead the first
installment in the Chamber's four-part HR Building Blocks workshop series this Thursday, Nov. 8, focusing on the attraction and retention of young
professionals.
Event details: Thursday, Nov. 8 2:30-5 p.m. The AT&T Building (formerly BellSouth) Click here to register.

upon the families of reservists and National Guardsmen as the nation's reliance on those service members continues to expand. Several states have
begun to recognize this burden and have passed legislation allowing certain family members to take leave from work in order to spend time with
service members who have been called to active duty. Read more »
We want to hear from
you! Do you currently use interns? Do you want to offer feedback on HR issues and programming?
The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce understands that having a skilled workforce is important to your business. We are seeking ways to
provide events and information that meet your needs and interests, and we value your input. One specific area we are studying in detail is the value
of internships and their effect on increasing the skilled workforce in the Nashville area. For your convenience, we combined questions about
internships and programming into one survey. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete. Please click here to take this survey and share your thoughts.
By completing this survey,
you can register to win a prize! Each person completing the survey and entering his/her contact information at the end will be entered
into a drawing for one complimentary ticket to either Cool School or HR Building Blocks (winner's choice). The drawing will occur in February 2008,
and the ticket will be valid for either event in March 2008.
