Artwalk and Wine Festival Celebrates Coastal Culture
The streets of Historic Apalachicola will be filled with fine art exhibits on Saturday, April 5. The 2nd Annual Artwalk and Wine Festival is Apalachicola's premiere Springtime event as visitors stroll the downtown district admiring the exhibits and ware of more than 30 artists and vendors on the sidewalks. Fine art in all forms will be woven in and around picturesque downtown Apalachicola where artists and musicians will be showing, selling and demonstrating their talents from 12-6 pm. The festivities continue in the afternoon with a traveling wine tasting from 3-6 p.m at select locations throughout the downtown. Afterwards area chefs will prepare dishes at their restaurants pared with special wines. This year's event features a children's art area where kids can draw and paint their own masterpiece while parents shop for the grown-up version. Carrabelle Riverfront Festival April 26
The Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce will host its 18th annual Carrabelle Riverfront Festival on Saturday, April 26 - 10-6 pm and Sunday, April 27 from 10- 4 pm. The two day spring festival features regional and award winning artists with original works and prints, authentic  custom-designed pottery, stained glass, sculpture, unique metal art, wood carvings, yard art and more.  The festival is located downtown on scenic Marine Street along Carrabelle's beautiful Riverwalk. There will be food, maritime exhibits, sand sculpting and a "kids' zone." St. George Island Lighthouse Restoration Continues

The final framework bricks will be in place soon on the St. George Island Lighthouse. When complete, the lighthouse will stand 65 feet tall and be a completely restored replica of the original lighthouse which once stood on the east end of Cape St. George, a barrier island off the coast of Franklin County. The reconstruction effort is headed up by the St. George Lighthouse Association. When complete, the lighthouse will be the focal point for St. George Island and the St. George Island Visitor's Center. For more information on the lighthouse, visit www.stgeorgelight.org

 

Antique and Classic Boat Show April 26

The 10th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show in Apalachicola's Veterans Park on April 26 is an annual crowd pleaser for vintage boat enthusiasts. All types of antique boats, classic examples of traditional vessels, work boats, fiberglass classics, antique outboard motors and antique cars will be on display. Visitor Center & Museum Officially Opens!
The St. George Island Visitor Center and Lighthouse Museum is now officially open.  The Visitor Center is located on Gulf Beach Drive at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard. You can't miss it though, it's tucked under a 65 foot lighthouse! The center opened this earlier year to provide visitors with information about St. George Island as well as area business and recreational information. The center also serves as the St. George Island Lighthouse Museum and includes artifacts and displays about this historic monument.
The Visitor Center & Lighthouse Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. six days a week, and is closed on Wednesday.  For more information, visit www.seestgeorgeisland.com

 

The Great Plein Air Paint Out May 8-18
More than 20 nationally acclaimed plein air artists will document the landscapes and the people who inhabit them in a "paint-out" the second week in May. Hailing from Maine to California to South Florida, todays plein air artists will paint on location in Apalachicola, Cape San Blas, East Point, Indian Pass, Mexico Beach, Carrabelle, Port St. Joe, and St. George Island.
