clubGEN End of Year Party
On April 22nd, the clubGEN High School
Facilitators celebrated their year of hard work at the South Austin Rock Gym. All but one girl were novices to rock climbing, yet every
girl took on the challenge with the confidence and esteem in true clubGEN fashion.
This event offered a chance for the facilitators from
different clubGENs to come together and appreciate their efforts in creating clubs that were fun, exciting and very impactful for themselves and the
middle school girls. Throughout the year the facilitators have been good listeners and good role models, providing middle schools girls
with the education, encouragement, support and inspiration to help them grow into strong and healthy women. In the words of one of the
attendees, "What I love about clubGEN is laughing and crying with all of my [middle school] girls, knowing I'm empowering them every step of the
way!"
GENaustin would like to thank all of its wonderful volunteers from the YWA (Young Women's Alliance) and the YWA Foundation for all of
their support in making this event possible. Another special thanks to Southside Flying Pizza and Sweet Leaf Tea for donating their
mouth-watering pizzas and delicious tea for the climbers. Additionally, each girl was given a goodie bag courtesy of Austin Natural Soap and
Claire's Boutique, and a few very lucky girls received door prizes from Dart Bowl Bowling Ally, Cinemark Barton Creek and Pei-San
Jewelry. Finally, thank you to the Austin Rock Gym for being such gracious hosts!
