February 2006

It's a New Year!

We welcomed the New Year with warm weather, lots of visitors and a renewed excitement about real estate on St. George Island. Many of our New Year's visitors came to the Prudential Open Houses to see the properties available for sale. We think now is the perfect time to buy. The market has shifted from a "sellers market" to a "buyers market". This means instead of having a limited selection of homes on the market, a buyer can find almost anything they desire and have an opportunity to purchase it at a reasonable price. The investment potential for this market is great, especially if you hold on to the property for 3 to 5 years.

Last year's hurricane season influenced a slowing of the market and deterred people from vacationing along the coast. According to my friends along the Gulf Coast who experienced hurricanes two years ago, it didn't stay slow for long. They experienced a dramatic recovery in the market and a return of happy visitors. We are looking forward to a great 2006 on St. George Island. The winter visitors are here and enjoying beautiful days with temperatures over 60 degrees instead of dreary ice and snow. The rental companies are expecting lots of people to spend the Spring and Summer playing on the beach we all love.
