Support Group Spotlight: Provena St. Joseph Group
Working as a radiation therapist at Provena St.
Joseph's, Karen Mehrbrodt worked with women fighting breast cancer every day. As she got to know them over the course of 6 or 7 weeks of daily
radiation treatments, she found that they all had one thing in common: the need to share their experiences while gaining information and support to
face the challenges that lay ahead of them as breast cancer survivors. Karen connected with Y-ME Illinois when determining how Provena St. Joseph's
could help meet these needs. Since the group started in early 2005, interest in the group and Y-ME's presence in Joliet has been exceptional.
The group meets at 6pm on the second Tuesday of the month at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, 333 Madison, in the Cancer Care Center Conference Room.
Please note the location change this month's meeting (Joliet Park District, 3000 W. Jefferson St.) which is cosponsored by ROCHE Pharmaceuticals,
features Beverly Kirkhart, breast cancer survivor and author of My Healing Companion. Ms. Kirkhart will speak on journaling and it's part in
recovering after breast cancer.
Space is limited, so please call (815) 725-9438 to make a reservation.
