Each September, the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival brings fine musicians from around the world for an exciting series of concerts right here in Central Virginia. This year's festival includes the widest range of work presented yet, exploring improvisation, the classics of Vienna, abstraction, and more.

7th Annual Youth Film Festival

Light House Studio, Charlottesville's youth media center, hosts the 7th Annual Youth Film Festival, "Power!" The evening showcases the best short films created by local teens in the past year including animation, documentary, music video, and narrative films.

 

Cocktails begin at 6:30pm, followed by an 8:00pm screening. All ticket sales support the mission of Light House Studio.

 

Tickets: Adults $30, Youth $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Cville Weekly office or by phone at 434.293.6992.

"New Paintings" -

John Borden Evans

Les Yeux du Monde


Friday, September 5, 5:30-7:30pm

 

Les Yeux du Monde's new exhibition features new paintings by John Borden Evans. Evans' acrylic paintings transform themselves into imaginary views of the world around his Virginia home.

 

The show's opening reception this weekend will be the first at Les Yeux du Monde on First Fridays since moving to its new location on West Main Street. Check out Les Yeux du Monde's new Feast on Art series to hear Evans speak about his work later this month.

Hamner Theater's In The Cabaret presents Nelson County's own Molimo for a high-energy evening of folk rock.

 

Molimo is known throughout Central Virginia for their energetic songs that call audiences to engage with their communities. Enjoy heavy appetizers in an intimate setting with these enthusiastic folk rockers.
