Bamboo is likely the most versatile and resourceful plant on earth.  It is actually a grass and is the fastest growing plant in the world with a growth rate of up to a meter per day.  It's self-regenerating and can be utilized in just 4-5 years unlike traditional hardwoods that not only take 25-70 years to mature, but also require replanting.  

Good for the Environment

Bamboo takes in nearly 5 times the amount of greenhouse gasses, and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.  It improves the health of the soil and groundwater with its erosion preventing roots and unique ability to rapidly take up excess nitrogen in soil and nutrients contained in waste water.  Growing bamboo does not require chemical pesticides, insecticides or fertilizers.

Bamboo can be used to build virtually anything traditionally made from wood.  Bamboo clothing is as soft as silk, but more durable and much less expensive and versatile.  Clothes made from Bamboo are  hypoallergenic, very absorbent and more antibacterial than other fabrics.
