ONCE AGAIN, BREAST CANCER ADVOCATES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

May's Pink Link™ alerted you about federal legislation that had been introduced
which, if passed, would strip away state mandates providing insurance coverage for mammograms, reconstructive breast surgery, and 48-hour hospital
stays following mastectomies. We asked PA advocates to mobilize to block the Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Bill
by calling Senators Specter and Santorum and urging them NOT to support Senate Bill 1955. You called, and they listened! Senate Bill 1955
failed to receive the votes needed to move through the Senate. The American Cancer Society mobilized advocates nationally to stop action
on this bill. Congratulations, advocates! Look for future calls to action if this bill comes up for a vote again.

such a respect for what the PBCC does.

SPOTLIGHT ON
PBCC CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS
The workshop "Mr. Don't Fix It: How Guys Get it Wrong When the Woman They Love has Breast Cancer (And How They Can Get it Right)" will be
presented by Marc Silver, author of "Breast Cancer Husband: How to Help Your Wife (and Yourself) Through Diagnosis, Treatment, and
Beyond". Marc is an editor at US News & World Report. He has been a guest on the Today show, Good Morning
America, and various CNN and CNBC programs, and has contributed freelance stories to The New York Times, The Washington Post,
and other publications.
When he became a breast cancer husband three years ago, he learned firsthand how frightened and
helpless the breast cancer husband feels. Now this award-winning journalist has compiled just the kind of emotionally supportive and useful
resource that he wished he had been able to consult - to give men the tools they need to help their wives, their families, and themselves through
this scary, uncertain time. Why not bring your husband to the conference this year? You can both hear
Marc share his experiences in this workshop and purchase his book at the PBCC Annual Conference October 11. See a list of confirmed workshops here. (More will
be added soon!)

| HEALTHAMERICA PAINTS THE
PARK PINK FOR THE PBCC WITH THE STATE COLLEGE SPIKES
|
Come out to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, 701 Porter Road in University Park, on Saturday,
July 15 at 7:05 pm for "HealthAmerica Paints the Park Pink" - a family-focused event to raise awareness of breast cancer. HealthAmerica has
partnered with the State College Spikes to present this event. For this game only, the State College Spikes will trade in their regular
uniforms for pink caps and pink team jerseys. The first 1500 women and girls in attendance get a pink cap, and all fans are encouraged
to wear pink. Anyone wearing pink can be part of a special group photo on the field after the game.
HealthAmerica will also
sponsor an old-fashioned picnic during the game, with pink lemonade and pink ribbon cookies. After the game, the Spikes will raffle off
the pink team jerseys worn during the game. All funds generated by the raffle, and a portion of all picnic ticket sales,
will benefit the PBCC. To purchase tickets, call (814) 272-1711.
