Event of the Year
The Iowa State Fair
was named Tourism Event/Festival of the Year and earned the Tourism Web Site of the Year award during the 2007 Iowa Tourism Conference in Dubuque this
month. The winning event/festival was chosen based on several criteria including outstanding performance in 2006-2007, outstanding economic impact,
effective marketing and impressive attendance figures. Web site judging was based on outstanding Web site design, outstanding information contained
in the site, ease of use for travelers, measurable success and use of Web site in overall marketing campaign. Click here to read

Work off that last corndog
while helping raise money for the Iowa State Fairgrounds! The first Fairgrounds 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 10
AM on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Runners, joggers and walkers alike will have the opportunity to experience the Iowa State Fairgrounds’
park-like setting without the hustle and bustle of the Fair. The route will highlight the essentials, Grand Avenue, Rock Island and the Campgrounds,
and take participants through a scenic perspective of the fairgrounds. Registration fee is $25 in advance, $30 on race day. For more information,

Attendance
For the sixth consecutive
year, the Iowa State Fair topped the million attendance mark during its August 9-19 run. Ongoing capital improvements to the Fairgrounds –
including the new Paul R. Knapp Animal Learning Center and the renovated Ralph H. Deets Historical Museum – were overwhelmingly popular with
