April 2007 "Get in The
Zone!"
Hello ,and Welcome to The Positive Zone!
Now you may be thinking, "What the heck is The Positive Zone and why do I want to be
in it?" Trust me. The Positive Zone is a great place to be!
When you’re in The Positive
Zone, you feel confident, calm, in control, relaxed, free from stress, worry and anxiety.
The Positive Zone is where you do your best,
most productive work, get your best, most creative ideas and best handle any challenge that may
arise.
When I'm in The Zone, I can look at my new picture in the above banner and rather than getting
upset about my lumpy jacket and how big my butt looks, instead I think, "Why, I look simply Mah-veloous!"
Self-doubts are NOT allowed in The Positive Zone!
I've been speaking full-time for over ten years now all over the world (including five separate trips down under!) and I
plan to share the wisdom I've learned along the way in this "new" Tipsheet and tell you how to get and
STAY in The Zone!
Each month I’ll share tips on how to decrease your stress and increase your energy and how to keep negative thoughts from ruining your
self-confidence.
Here's Tip
#101: How to keep negative people from ruining your day

Zone Sign!
Simply download and color print the PDF and then post the sign where the negative, cranky,
whiny people in your life can see it!
Tip #102: How to
instantly get in The Zone: What I want you to do right now is SMILE!
That’s right, put a big grin on your face and KEEP it there.
Go ahead. I'm waiting for
you. Smile so wide it hurts! Show your teeth!
I know this seems really goofy; but trust me on this. Keep smiling!
No one's looking at you, so keep smiling
for 20 more seconds. (If you don't feel kinda stupid right now, you're not doing it
right!) While we count down the seconds, look around for any pictures or objects that make you smile. Family photos? Silly cartoons? Keep
smiling for 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 more seconds. Okay. Time’s up. Stop smiling and notice how you feel. Do you feel pretty darned good? You
should, because a big smile can actually improve your mood!
Neurologists have documented that when we smile, certain facial muscles contract, decreasing the
flow of blood in nearby vessels, which lowers the temperature of the brain stem so it releases more serotonin-- the "happy"
endorphin or "natural Prozac®!"
Wow! That means the more you smile,
the better you'll actually feel!
Tip #103: SMILE as soon as you wake up in the
morning
When the alarm clock goes off at O-Dark-Hundred, and before you even lift your head from the pillow,
lie in bed and SMILE and tell yourself,
"The very first thing I did today was SMILE and I'm going to choose to stay positive all
day!"
You must choose to be in the Positive Zone. Choose to be a positive person who thinks positively, speaks
positively and acts positively.
Choose to SMILE
when: ***You don't feel like smiling ***You meet another person ***You make a mistake ***You want to improve your appearance ***Someone "pushes your buttons "***You want to attract other people to you
Interesting
fact: Women smile eight times more often throughout the day than
men. Women also live, on average, eight years more than men. Coincidence? I think
not!
Now, I know some of you
chronically serious people prefer WC Field's philosophy: "Start every day off
with a smile and get it over with." But I want all you grumpy people to make a conscious
effort to SMILE each and every day and make
people wonder what you're up to!

Until the Next Issue.... Remember
to Keep Smiling and Stay in The Zone!!
Susan
P.S: Hey y'all: Send me an email and let me know if you're SMILING right now
and where you plan to post your Positive Zone
sign!
P.P.S: I love getting your emails; but I’ve never received anything like these actual
letters to “Dear Abby:”
Dear Abby, I've suspected that my
husband has been fooling around, and when confronted with the evidence, he denied everything and said it would never happen again.
Dear Abby, Our
son writes that he is taking Judo. Why would a boy who was raised in a good Christian home turn against his own?
Dear Abby, I have a man I can't trust. He cheats so much, I'm not even sure the baby I'm carrying is
his.
Dear
Abby, You told some woman whose husband had lost all interest in sex to send him to a doctor. Well, my husband lost all interest in
sex and he is a doctor. Now what do I do?
