The 25th day of
December;
In unknown time from when God created
the heavens and the earth;
in the enduring period of promise
after the flood;
the 2,015th year from the birth of
Abraham;
the 1,510th from Moses and the
freedom of the people of Israel from Egypt;
the 1,032rd year from David’s
being anointed king;
in the 194th
Olympiad;
the 752nd year from the founding of the city of Rome;
the 42nd year of the reign of
Rome’s Emperor, Octavian Augustus;
the earth being at peace in the sixth
age of the world,
Jesus, the eternal God and Son of the
eternal Father,
desiring to
sanctify the world by his most merciful coming,
being announced
by the angel, Gabriel,
conceived by the
Holy Spirit,
and nine months having passed since
his conception,
was born in Bethlehem of Judea of the
Virgin Mary.
This is the nativity of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
O come let us adore him.
