The YMCA wants to get Corporate America on the Move
September 20-27, 2008
America on the Move (AOM) Week is aimed to motivate Americans to take small steps
towards a healthier lifestyle. As part of that initiative, YMCAs are deepening their commitment to community-wide efforts to promote healthy living
and intensifying their collaboration with other community partners to support kids, adults and families who want a healthier lifestyle.
The YMCA of Middle Tennessee would like to involve our corporate partners in this
initiative. In fact, we would like to encourage some healthy competition between our corporate partners.
Here’s how it works:
- Each participating company will create a 5-7 person employee wellness
committee that will work on and lead all details for this event
- Each employee wellness committee will recruit employee participants for
the AOM week challenge
- The YMCA will provide a local YMCA center champion to assist with each
company’s plans and participant recruitment. The YMCA staff person will work directly with each company’s HR director and/or employee
wellness committee
- The committee will work on the best methods to recruit the most
participants for the week and for the final event
- The YMCA will provide an online tracking tool for each company and its
participants
- The YMCA will provide pedometers to all employees participating from
each company
- Each company and its participants will be responsible for tracking
their steps Sept. 20-27
- On Sept. 26, each company will host an employee walk that collectively
will create middle Tennessee’s largest employee walking event.
- Friday’s walking event will be held at the company
- Friday’s walking trail will be established by each
company
- The companies with the highest percentage of participation, highest
percentage of steps per participant and the highest percentage of steps per company will win big prizes
- Employees will develop closer relationships and enhance their overall
health
- The YMCA will make a stronger connection to our local corporate
partners
