Hello ,

I hope you are having a terrific fall. In this issue of the Boughton Bulletin, I have highlighted some great events that happened here in Danbury.

In addition we continue to weather the various economic challenges of the last several weeks. We are moving forward with our infrastructure improvements, and are putting the finishing touches on our summer paving program.

It was a successful summer for us here, and I am excited about  the coming months. Make no mistake, there will be some tough decisions to make,  but we will meet them head on together. I will keep you informed as we move into the fall.

All The Best,

Mayor Mark

Rose Hill Bridge is open!

The Rose Hill Bride opened last week after approximately 8 months of construction. This was a difficult project as we had to make several revisions of the original. Thankfully it is open and ready for use.

I am so proud of these young men who carried our flag on their deployment in Iraq.
Mannkind opens $200 Million Dollar Facility.

Mannkind Pharmaceuticals has opened it's new 200 million dollar facility in the old Davis and Geck building on Casper Street. The facility will produce a new product for diabetes called Afresa (pronounced Ahh fresa). The product is cutting edge and is poised for success. We are proud to welcome Mannkind to our corporate community and look forward to working with them to grow their business and to employ Danbury residents.

Join us for an open house with the State candidates on September 24th at 7:00 PM at Republican Headquarters on 2 Main Street. It is free of charge and will give you an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates. You also can pick up your McCain-Palin yard sign at that time!
Danbury adopts program to incentivize furnace replacement.

Thinking about replacing that aging and inefficient furnace? You may be eligible for a matching grant from the State of Connecticut and the City of Danbury to offset some of your expenses. Effective September 1st 2008, the City of Danbury will match the State of Connecticut's reimbursement with a property tax credit for those that choose to replace their furnace and will also waive your permit fees. Program is good until April 15th 2009! Contact the Mayor's Office at 797-4511 for more details.

Don't forget to register to vote for the upcoming elections. Voting is one of the most important things that we can do as Americans. If you have children or grandchildren away at school, or you are away at school, don't forget to request an absentee ballot asap! You can contact the Registrar of Voters Office at 797-4553 for more information.
Congratulations to the Phyllis's!!

Congratulations to Phyllis Boughton and Phyllis Cortese for running two outstanding programs this past weekend.

Phyllis Boughton organized an event called sharing a "Day of Greatness". It was an opportunity for our everyday heroes to share their good works with each other and to recognize those doing an outstanding job for our community. Some 600 people attended this wonderful event. Great job Phyllis!!

and..

Sunday was our annual Family Fair Day at the Ives Concert Park. This is a free event with the Ives Concert Orchestra and all kinds of activites throughout the day. The best part? It is free and we touched over 2000 people. Great job Phyllis!
