From the Heart
Thank you for the bed you
provided for me. It is so nice to sleep on it. We thought we were
satisfied
with what we
had to sleep on, but you changed our lives! Because it is very
important the way we sleep. In the morning we are rested well and
joyful.

From Jen's Pen
It's that time of year again - Sweet Sleep is preparing for our first mission
journey of 2008 as we
head to Orhei, Moldova March 28-April 5. I actually like to call Orhei "the Grand Canyon of Moldova" because of its beautiful canyon, which is home
to
a monastary carved into the side of a mountain. In contrast, Orhei is also home to the "Casa de Copii" - translated literally as: "home of children."
This orphanage is home to 327 boys - 110 of whom suffer from physical handicaps so severe they cannot leave their beds, and thus are in need of
special crib-like beds. The remainder of the boys have various handicaps and sleep in beds similar to other Moldovan orphanages - 50-year-old metal
beds with broken springs and soiled mattresses. The boys in this institution are not educated and have very little activity due to extreme staff
shortages.
Following the Orhei trip, we'll be working in...

Sweet Sleep's Work with Moldovan Baptists
While you already know of Sweet Sleep's commitment to provide beds to orphaned and
abandoned children,
you may not know Sweet Sleep has the same
commitment to indigenous leaders as they seek solutions for ministering to their country's children.
For the last several years, Sweet Sleep has had a working relationship with the Union of
Christian
Evangelical
Baptist Churches of Moldova, commonly known as The Baptist Union of Moldova.
This spring Sweet Sleep, the Bishop, and the General Secretary of the Baptist Union will introduce a new program to assist in the ongoing efforts of
sharing the hope and love God has for his people in Moldova. Please be in prayer for this work and stay tuned for more exciting news on this
partnership!

Sweet Sleep in Sudan
According to recent estimates, there are 210 million
orphans
worldwide. Realizing
that there are millions of orphans needing a safe, healthy place to sleep each
night, we are now taking our vision of providing "a bed for every head" to the
world.
The United Nations reports that at least 400,000 people have died in
Darfur since the
genocide began in February 2003 and the numbers rise every day.
Thousands of orphans live in the southern part of the country and have no
government infrastructure
to help them. Currently, these boys and girls sleep outside and are extremely vulnerable to the elements, both weather and wildlife. The death rate
of un-housed orphans is very high due to this exposure. Last year alone, hundreds of orphans died at night directly because of not having adequate
places to sleep.

Sleep's work in Sudan and find out how you can help.

Meet the Board:
Stuart McAlister's Passion for Moldova
By Kristen Eddleman
The country of Moldova is often overlooked when one thinks of missions, but this small
country has become a passion for Stuart McAlister, chairman of Sweet Sleep's Board of Directors.
McAlister first heard about Moldova in November of 2005 when his office, EMI CMG, decided
to partner with a charitable organization instead of throwing the typical office Christmas party. EMI partnered with Sweet Sleep and brought more
than
1,000 winter coats for two Moldovan orphanages.
