Dear ,
Last week, one of my prospective clients asked me to tell a couple success stories about the businesses and
people I've worked
with.
I fumbled an answer, mentioned a designer who has more work than she can handle and a copywriter who no longer
dreads calling strangers.
But as soon as I hung up the phone I resolved to always have 2-3 ready-to-tell success stories
whenever someone asks. And you should too.
What is a success story?
It's a very brief (but expandable) anecdote that highlights the results of working with you. And it's made
up of facts, so it shouldn't feel like bragging.
For example, if the fruit of your efforts achieved a 20% response, that is a fact your prospects need to
know about. Or if your firm won an award for a web site you worked on, turn that into a success story. And even if you can't find out the
objective results of your work, you can talk about the effect on your client and their business.
Then, direct them to your testimonials. (Here are ours.)
Make sense? If not, or if you need help coming up with your own success stories so they don't sound like
bragging,
take advantage of the complimentary half hour phone consult I offer and we can talk about it. Details here.
Listen to the recent webcast we did with FunctionFox about hourly
rates for creative professionals. Listen to
that
here.
In it, we made a special offer of $20 off Pricing and Marketing Secrets
download, good until Jan 31st. More details here.
New Marketing Mentor Groups start week of Feb 11. More details here.
