Newsletter
|
Summer time...
By Li Vellinga
This is a very busy time for us in the landscape industry, but
it's also a time when we tend to take vacation and visit with family and
friends. With this in mind, the newsletter submissions are somewhat sparse, but
there is still a lot going on in APLD... please check the calendar and join in on
some of the great upcoming events.
Also, APLD California is offering another great service that
you can enjoy right from your office, or while on vacation for that matter...
just go online and check out our APLD
California Yahoo! Group. If you're
not a member yet, you really should sign up.
There, almost any
questions within our profession can be asked and are often answered within a
day or two. Several job referrals from designers who are too busy have been
posted, sources for plant material and accessories are listed, suggestions on
best office equipment and software programs are given and general experiences
are shared. It's a great forum for designers of all levels to participate in.
Below are some "teaser" samples of what has been discussed
as of late. If you want to read beyond the dots, please log on and take
advantage of all the information! Anyone who is a current member of APLD
California can sign up to become a member in the APLD California Yahoo! Group.

ORINDA
LANDSCAPE DESIGN/BUILD
FIRM HONORED WITH SEVEN AWARDS
Orinda Business owner and
APLD member, Steve Lambert of Garden Lights Landscape Development, received
seven top honors at this year's "Beautification Awards" presented June 8th
at the Pleasanton Hotel by the CLCA's East Bay Chapter Board Members.
"I submitted seven entries to
be judged for this year's competition," said Lambert. "That's more than I've ever entered before but
we had installed so many great gardens this past year that I just couldn't
narrow down my entries any further. I
was pretty blown away to receive first place in every category I entered as
well as a second place award for the large scale design/build category too."

criteria to be submitted for consideration in this annual competition. East Bay Landscape Contractors and Designers
send in their entries anonymously and their work is viewed and judged by
industry experts from outside the area.
Steve Lambert of Garden
Lights Landscape Development, has been designing and installing landscapes,
pools, lighting, ponds and water features in the Lamorinda area for the past 17
