Happy New Year!
Welcome to the first edition of 'Cutting
Comments' for 2008, we're very happy to be back.
From the moment we opened our
doors our office staff has been busy planning shows and catching up
with customers, and the factory staff have been busy doing what they do best;
building the greatest sawmills in the world!
Our Senior Sales Consultant Aaron Kalan is
looking
forward to a visit to South America
in March. Aaron will be helping our Columbian Agent, Daniel Duran from
Primal Ltd, with the M&M Forestal Forestry show in Bogota,
Columbia. Aaron
has never been to South America, so he is very much looking forward to the
experience and to catching up with Daniel who he trained in New Zealand
last year. From Columbia, Aaron will
be traveling to Peru
to catch up with Alex Chiu who has been a
Peterson
Agent for seven
years. Keep watching our Show Schedules
page for updates on shows and
demonstration days, or email Aaron for more
information.
Lee Morris, our International Distribution
Consultant has been focusing on joining forces with individuals and businesses,
and has recently signed a new Agent in Papua New Guinea, Geoff Beamish
from Agmark Pacific Ltd. Geoff has big
plans
for Peterson Sawmills in
PNG, including having a full-time Sawmill Sales Supervisor on
staff. Because our mills were originally designed in the jungle, we
are sure Geoff will have some customer stories to share with you
in the near future.
Lee is looking for Agents in many
countries, with a particular focus on Guyana and French Guyana.
Contact Lee to find out more about becoming a Peterson
Agent.
If you would like to hear stories straight
from Peterson mill owners and you live in the USA
or Australia,
check out our new Mill Referrals
page. If there is someone in your state
available to speak to on the phone or give you a demonstration, complete the
form or give us a call and we'll give you their details.
We enjoy hearing from our customers and
those who have enquired about our mills, so if you would like to share any
stories or photos from your corner of the world, please send
them to Emma.
See you next month!

Article: Firewood Pallets . . .
Pallets can reduce handling in a firewood operation, which speeds production and makes the work
easier. Pallets can fit into both small and large-scale operations.
Here in Vermont we note the many times heating with firewood warms you; when you harvest the trees, when you cut
the logs to firewood length, when you split the chunks, when you carry firewood to the stove, and lastly, when you burn it! Heating with firewood is
a
labor-intensive activity.
There are a variety of ways to make firewood, from a hand saw and a splitting maul, to a chainsaw and a hydraulic splitter, to a processor where
logs go in one end and split firewood comes out the other. Once the split firewood is produced, reducing the number of times each piece needs to be
handled can speed the operation and make work easier. Read more . . .

Photo of the Month . .
.
This month we are featuring Pepper who has had a hard day at work with owner Landon Bussiere. Pepper is a Basset
Hound who is a very active dog but enjoys her Nana naps as well. Click here to see the PoM.
Miller Profile . . .
This month we have a Miller Profile from Nathan Dearyan, who's from Arkansas, USA. Nathan has six children who all like helping him out when he's
building or milling. Click here to read his
profile.

Site of the Month . . .
Have some fun with February's Site of the
Month, the Guiness World Records! See the lady with the poppy eyes, the
tallest motorcycle and the largest plate inserted in a human skull - yuck!
Would you like to help set a World
Record? Our friends at the Forestry
Forum have come up with the idea to
join portable sawmills together and break the world record for the 'worlds
longest plank'. The current record stands at 127.6 feet and they are
going for a whopping 200 feet! So if you are on the West Coast and have a
log to donate to this worthy (and fun) cause, or if you want to participate in
any other way including sponsorship, email
Layla.
