Grow-A-Note thank you cards

Go Green

Did you ever think paper could be socially conscious and work for the greater good? Well, we have a line of green/socially-conscious stationery options that prove just that. For instance, we are proud to offer New Life Cards that are hand-made by women in Guatemala. These fair-trade items benefit the hands that toiled to make them with proceeds supporting the women and their efforts to better their lives.

As for eco-friendly options, stationery selections include products made from coffee beans and recycled junk mail. Or, what better way to get even more use out of a hand-written note than to turn it into a beautiful plant? Our plantable stationery is embedded with wildflower seeds, so when you're done with the note, bury it and enjoy some beautiful greenery and flowers. Also take a look at our refillable journals that reduce waste and promote reuse.

Stop by and support some worthy causes with our eco-friendly/socially-conscious products. We hope you'll see that perhaps it is easy being green.

I hope to see you soon,

Elegance and

Green Unite

About four and a half years ago, Emily and Rachelle started Wiley Valentine--creators of exquisite invitations and stationery for weddings, baby announcements, holiday cards and special request materials. But what makes them unique is their commitment to being environmentally friendly.

"I'm the resident green here, so it has always been a concern of mine," Rachelle explained. "If there is an option to have green invitations and still have beautiful quality, why not make that special effort to do it?" So Wiley Valentine decided to make some changes. It had been using 100% cotton paper, but it switched to using 100% recycled paper as well. The company also practices green initiatives by using shredded documents for packaging, installing energy saving light bulbs, and recycling ink cartridges and other suitable materials, among other initiatives.

The response to such green efforts has been very positive. "As soon as we switched over, a lot of people called asking about the recycled or cotton paper. It seems like brides especially have become more earth conscious and they are looking for a product that meets their green needs and is still beautiful. They don't have to compromise look or style. It can be beautiful and still be green." So stop by Spark to get the full experience of how green doesn't mean compromising beauty.

Green Day

Wondering how you can reduce the carbon footprint of you and your guests on your wedding day? Below are a few ideas that can help your day be greener, while still being stylish and uniquely yours.
  • Choose recycled invitations (such as Wiley Valentine), thank you cards and place cards.
  • Use locally grown flowers.
  • Select an outdoor venue for the ceremony to reduce the need of artificial lighting.
  • Keep the reception close to the ceremony location for less fuel usage.
  • Develop a menu of locally and organically grown food.
  • Give guests plantable party favors such as seed packets that can grow just as your marriage does.

Andrea Salinas

Introducing...

Andrea Salinas joined Spark last October as a graphic designer. "I wanted to find something that would allow me to be creative," she said. "I was always artsy in high school and I wanted to find a way to do art all day long and still pay the bills." To pursue that dream, Andrea earned her design degree from Ivy Tech State College and found her way to Spark. "I came here with a lot of built-up creative energy. Spark has allowed me to be creative and gives me flexibility. The combination of wedding and corporate design is a nice mix. It gives me something new every day."

Even when not at the office, Andrea appreciates all things art. She does watercolor, silk and oil painting, along with furniture painting. She also enjoys walking, being outdoors and playing with her two cats, Snowflake and Dot. She often travels to New York City to visit her family. "My family isn't in Indiana, so having this Spark family is great--it's a big reason why I love it here."
